  1. C'mon Zips, finish the half strong so we can say we had one strong first half this MAC season!
  2. The name "Myron Gordon" sounds like the name of a fat kid in grade school that eats paste and picks his nose.
  3. Hope he keeps taking his time and squaring up.
  4. "Obnoxious" was a little strong. LOL. My intention was to point out the disparity in unis from the blandness of Penn State to the colorful nature of Oregon. Maryland, with its connection to Under Armor, has also been pretty creative.
  5. BGSU- 82, UA- 79. Akron gets behind, makes a run, then BG wins the last 3-4 minutes. Curious to see former Ohio Mr. Basketball Samari Curtis. He started at Nebraska then went to Evansville and is now at BG. Looking at the BG's box scores he's had some big games and some games where he has disappeared. Hopefully, the Zips will be able to keep him from getting on track.
  6. If they win in it, I could adjust to something as bland as Penn State or as obnoxious as Oregon.
  7. One more. My favorite part is the sub-headline- "The Zips Need a Strong Voices." Yikes ABJ/GT. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2022/01/19/university-akron-mens-basketball-team-should-learn-close-win/6562346001/
  8. I hope Michael Huger is still wearing his black latex gloves. It looks like he's preparing to help a cow give birth. Here's the BG website preview- https://bgsufalcons.com/news/2022/1/19/mens-basketball-mens-hoops-to-host-akron-thursday-night-at-the-stroh-center.aspx
  9. Speaking of UA alums, Marcel Boyce Jr. is tearing it up at Buchtel while Maxx Bosley, Jamie's son, is a star at Wadsworth. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/01/19/maxx-bosley-wadsworth-grizzlies-basketball-jami-bosley-akron-zips-ohio-state-buckeyes/9172216002/
  10. I just went back and watched and the Zips scored 9 points in 28 seconds (2:17 to 1:49). Remarkable.
  11. Torrey Patton might help now too. That's the nature of the game. I wish the kids well. I realized last night that the 3 point shooters traditionally drive Zips Nation crazy while we have them.. Trimble, Xeyrius, Josh Williams, Kwan...
  12. In the post-game, Groce specifically stated that he called the TO at the around 4 minutes just to give the kids some rest as he knew that 5 would be in to finish the game. With Walton bailing, Wynn disappearing and Clarke struggling the depth that was a asset early has disappeared.
  13. BG won 92-83 at NIU last night. Plowden is one of my favorite MAC players. Athletic and plays hard. I wish the Zips had a kid like him. For some unknown reason, I just looked up Taylor Currie. He's averaging 18.4 ppg and 8.1 rpg at Harding University. I'm not implying he would have done anything here, but it is interesting to see what happens to kids like that.
  14. If I recall correctly, that was the 2nd time White and Norman had been on the floor together this year. Those two can win MAC games on their own. WMU is better than advertised but the Zips gave them a lot of help last night. Dustin Ford is the defense coach. He needs to adjust quicker in games.
  15. Those offensive rebounds they gave up late were PAINFUL!
  16. The struggling Zips head to Bowling Green Thursday night to face the Falcons. BG is 8-8 overall and 1-4 in the MAC heading into Tuesday night’s game at DeKalb. 6-6 5th year forward Daqwon Plowden leads the Falcons in scoring and rebounding at 16.4 ppg and 7.3 rpg. 6-9 junior forward Joe Reece is second in scoring and rebounding at 11.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg. Last year, the Zips beat BG at BG and lost to them at the JAR.
  17. Radio post-game comments: Ali Ali- knew he didn't have to rush; trusted his teammates and the spacing; play call was to go to him; Zips need to locate shooters on defense better, impose their will more. Groce- thanks to the fans, students were awesome; credit to WMU, guard combo is strong, just haven't been able to play together; WMU outplayed them for most of second half; WMU great shot making, some great shooting some from Zips D; took TO at 4:03 to get rest for same kids to finish; press worked well late; against OU Ali showed courage to try at the end but took bad shots but learned from the experience and had more composure here as a result; Tribble unreal on defense late and in talking up the team in late huddles; stole one tonight; poise and composure at end made the difference; Aziz has not scratched the surface in games that's he's been in practice.
  18. Wow, that kid who brought the ball up the floor blew by Trimble like he was standing still. UGLY...DAMN...WIN (not giving it back).
