  1. Amen, with a deep roster of capable players who all play their role without a standout star. Lots of fine players but no LCJ...X...Enrique. Just a bunch of solid dues across the board. Was anybpdy close enough to get a sense of what prompted the T on Tavari?
  2. Agreed. No other MAC program has had our good fortune.
  3. They are well on their way. LOL.
  4. Another fun game. Some of points from Groce's post-game that stuck out. One, they played 25 minutes of good defense and 30 minutes of good offense. The first half was as good of defense as they played all year. Second, they still need to step on the neck of an opponent when they have them down. Another free throw disparity tonight with the OU shooting 33 while the Zips shot 15.
  5. Keith's departure seemed to be a turning point with a substantial portion of the fan base for some reason and it is a damn shame because as much as I like and appreciate Keith, Groce is every bit as good or better.
  6. The line right now is OU +2.5. Under/over is 158.
  7. Gross said in the post game it was nothing bad that Okonkwo had done but that Amani was just playing so well that he didn't want to take him out. Amani broke out right after I complained about him. I have to do that more often. I'm apparently some kind of motivator. LOL. Ummm, Ted, the big man is going to roll to the hole.
  8. He had a rough night offensively so it was nice to see him contribute in other ways. A less mature freshman would not have looked for other ways to chip in. I said it before, but I really like him and Shammah in the game together. They really play off of each other well. Both can handle the ball and run the point and really play hard on defense. It's like having a second set of starting guards some nights.
  9. Stop being so damn subtle and just come out and say what you mean.
  10. The 10-6/4-0 Bobcats come to the JAR for a 6:00 game this Friday to face the Zips. The Bobcats were predicted to win the MAC and return the most regular contributors of any MAC team this year. We'll see a lot of familiar faces and they've added 6'8" Senior All-MAC forward AJ Clayton is back to lead the Bobcats at 16.8 ppg and 6.3 rpg. 6'2" junior guard Jackson Paveletzke has transferred in from Iowa State and is averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists. 6'4" Second Team All-MAC preseason team sophomore guard AJ Brown kicks in 11.8 ppg. I used to root a little for Boals as he once worked for Keith but his sideline demeanor over the years has ruined that for me.
  11. The same Beacon referenced that the Zips three point attempts are up from 8 to 11 per game from last year. LOL. What a fun game. I am really liking the pair of Sharron and Shammah when they come in together.
  12. Ted is pinker than Mr. Pinky right now.
  13. Some sensitive refs tonight. Some stagnant offense at times in that half. Too much dribbling, not enough ball movement.
  14. Hmmm, you may have something there. The full wolf moon overtook Mars in the night sky last night, a rare celestial event.
  15. Joe Akron doesn't like the cold! 🤣
  16. 16 degrees at game time will also likely hurt attendance.
  17. Good points, but I'm not sure the Toledo rivalry is one that's much appreciated outside of the true Akron hoops fan.
  18. Interesting. Their schedule and results are mixed, including an opening loss to Central Michigan and a 14 point thumping of Arkansas State just last week. 🤔
  19. I think the Ohio U crowd will likely be hurt by the 6:00 p.m. start.
  20. I liked what I saw of them at the game at SVSM. The team seemed to be coming together. They have some talent. Dru seemed to be in command and the kids seemed engaged.
  21. Ohio.com article- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2025/01/13/indiana-pacers-rookie-akron-zips-legend-enrique-freeman-cleveland-high-school-jersey-retired/77656008007/
  22. I'm bookmarking this guy. I used to have more time to put info in the initial post threads but now just have time to essentially put them up at placeholders to start the discussion. This guy puts out some nice info.
  23. The Zips host the 9-6 Toledo Rockets Tuesday night at the JAR on Roo Blue Night. The Rockets are 3-0 in the MAC with wins over Central Michigan (by 2), Eastern Michigan (by 3) and Western Michigan (by 6). 6’1” sophomore guard Sonny Wilson is leading the Rockets at 15.3 ppg. 6’6” sophomore guard Sam Lewis leads the Rockets in rebounding at 5.7 rpg and is second in scoring at 14.3 ppg. 6’7” Javan Simmons was named to the All-MAC Preseason First Team and is averaging 11.7 ppg and 5.1 rpg. Second teamer 6’7’ 5th year guard Isaiah Adams averages 9.5 ppg and 7.7 rpg. They were selected 4th in the MAC Preseason Poll.
  24. Stan Heath's teams always look like they're in their first week of practice.
  25. Nice ball movement. Not great defense. I'm starting to like the Shamah/Sharron combo.
