  1. I sure hope KD reported that to the NCAA. If you're cheating and can't win the MAC, you're not very good at cheating.
  2. Buying a lottery ticket today. Wes Clark made all Clarks proud.
  3. Some answers: * Transferring players on a coaching change is commonplace; * Can't imagine Ivey transferring in his senior year. He's a team leader and one of the guys who bought in right away; * Improvement is to be expected and enough next year for any reasonable fan. They are expected to be competitive, but a MAC championship and NCAA win in his second year is an unreasonable expectation. Rome wasn't built in year; * Meryl Streep has nothing to do with this.
  4. I understand Groce in conjunction with mentioning character issues also said you could see a couple of kids transfer out. It could be an interesting off-season.
  5. Nobody here has given me any guidance on this but I spoke to a buddy this a.m. who had seats right behind the bench Thursday night. Apparently, there was an incident involving JImond and Malcolm "counseling" Virshon, and a subsequent "conversation" between Groce and Virshon. Sigh.
  6. EMU just fell short against Toledo. On the Eagles' last possession, Kevin McAdoo missed a short shot with three seconds to go. In the ensuing tie-up for the ball with 0.8 seconds left, officials reviewed the play and discovered the clock stopped for 1.9 seconds when the Eagles inbounded the ball after Jackson's final 3 and promptly ended it there. Sounds like the MAC continues to hire great timekeepers.
  7. Kent doesn't have the money to banish Mr. Pinky so he's there until the end of his contract. They certainly had talent better than 9-9 in the MAC.
  8. Amen. It felt like the damn clock just stopped there for a while.
  9. Couple of articles about the kid: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/high-school-basketball/2017/12/29/James-Ellis-Westinghouse-Eugene-Wilson-WPIAL-City-League/stories/201712290026 http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/high-school-basketball/2018/03/06/Westinghouse-big-man-James-Ellis-comes-off-bench-to-lead-Bulldogs/stories/201803060195
  10. I missed Groce's post-game comments. It was past my old lady bedtime and I just wanted to shut that awful game off at the end. What exactly did Groce say about the players/character issues?
  11. Some random thoughts: By and large, I was pleased with the coaching staff. I was concerned and mid-season that the staff may be losing the team, but they rallied and the kids bought in and played harder and harder through the last month of the season. I was also impressed by Dustin Ford's interaction with the team. I think we were all lured into a false sense of the team based upon their early success against the out of conference schedule. In other seasons, some of the kids we saw on the floor this year would have been redshirted or otherwise not seen significant time. Kostelac may have benefited from a redshirt season, settling into the game and refining his skills before being thrust on to the court. We have to hope that the actual on-court experience will help him long-term. Malcolm often seemed to be playing out of position. He looks like a linebacker and plays like a shooting guard which would appear to be his more natural position. He did fine, but I would have preferred to see him at shooting guard and running off of picks, but the roster didn't allow that. Virshon was very much a pleasant surprise. He certainly has the potential to be one of the better players in the MAC. I hope that he matures with age and is a 4 year Zip. Lucas Smith was the unsung hero of the season. While certainly not a star in any regard, I can't imagine where the team would have been without him after the losses of E-man and Sayles. Parrish drove me to distraction the first half of the season with his regular lapses. As the season wore down however, he really seemed to come into his own and show glimpses of the player he can become. Early on, I thought this was a .500 team. With the losses of the two big men I can't be disappointed with coming up just a little short of that. I look forward to what next season holds.
  12. Fantastic stuff Dr. Z. Thanks for sharing.
  13. There is plenty of blame to go around on this one, however, what did any reasonable fan really expect of this season? The team started the season seriously undermanned and the situation never got better with critical injuries to two of the Zips bigs. Were there plays that could have been made by the Zips players last night? Hell yes. Were there bad calls by the coaching staff late in the game? Certainly there were. However, in the end analysis, the Zips were quite simply beaten by a deeper and more talented squad. At the end of the day, Groce will make mistakes. Dambrot made mistakes. Criticizing either of them is not a demonstration of support for the other. Dambrot is a fine coach. Groce is a fine coach. It's just time to move on from the childish sniping and arguing.
  14. Nice run boys. we can do the post mortem tomorrow.
  15. They do not want to call a 5th on Thompson.
  16. Mark, turn and face, turn and face.
  17. Regroup. Deep breath. Stay aggressive.
  18. Yep, just saw a better view of it. Parrish gave him hell. LOL.
