  1. I hated the kids jumping from high school to the NBA. However, at this point, I see kids putting D1 programs on their backs and making millions for their schools, sponsors and the NCAA and everyone but them walking away with huge rewards. That's what bugs me. I do however see how early entry, rather than straight from high school or after a semester of college, hurts the NCAA and NBA games.
  2. Fair enough. Then give them an option to not be a college athlete and do away with the ridiculous "one and done" rule. I think your two inch vertical held you back from that free education skip!
  3. Every time I turn around today the MAC Tournament commercial is on. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
  4. There are always going to be schools/boosters who will cheat any system for their school to gain an advantage. Give the kids a decent stipend and someone will surreptitiously give kids a stipend plus. It's become such a big business for everyone involved, EXCEPT THE KIDS, so I have a tough time begrudging the kids getting their hands into the till.
  5. I will say they are playing hard on defense. I haven't seen as many defensive breakdowns in the last couple of weeks. If they play that hard when they have more talent, I'll be pleased. On offense, it's a mess in large part because they have so few kids that can effectively score the ball.
  6. The Zips look to rebound from a home OT loss to Miami when they head into Canada for Tuesday night's contest. Buffalo leads the East with a 13-3 record in conference and 21-8 record overall. The Bulls have had unexpected MAC losses to PCCC, NIU and Miami and beat the Zips at the JAR 87-65 in early January. They have 4 scorers in the teens with CJ Massenburg leading the way at 17 ppg. He also leads rebounding at 7.6 rpg. Is it just me or does it feel like Massenburg should be in his 7th year of eligibility for Canada. Akron St. Vincent St. Mary's Javon Graves averages 5.2 ppg in roughly 17 minutes per game.
  7. Saw that this morning and I am glad to hear it.
  8. I think it is in part talent. They're thin, young and inexperienced at key positions and playing kids that would never have seen the floor in prior years.
  9. That pretty well sums it up. Not a good team + fans being spoiled = misery.
  10. I hope you're right Hilltopper and I trust you are as you have good info. It's just odd that it is on the heels of him being held out for disciplinary reasons.
  11. Count your blessings, at least for today's game. Oh, and I'd take anyone's word over Spectrum's.
  12. I hope to hell this is all eating Virshon up so that he'll think twice before putting himself in the doghouse. With their thin squad and close games, he could be making a real difference. There was one major positive. I'm no longer hearing "Fat Bottomed Girls" from the band.
  13. Well, it's a good thing I forgot my phone in the car. It spared you all some profanity laced tirades. In any event, FUUUDDDDDDDDDGGGGGE! 19 turnovers...19 turnovers. Miami had 16 offensive rebounds. I didn't see a lack of effort from the Zips but I did see lots of bad judgment on offense. Frustrating as hell to give one away this late in the season. The Zips also handed Miami a home game to open the MAC tournament, potentially to face our Zips. Virshon got to model his new specs with his fanny never leaving the bench in a game our starting point guard went 1 for 10. The next time Mark Kostelac: 1) tightly guards his man 20 feet from the basket; 2) leaves his damn feet on a simple fake; or 3) puts the ball on floor near the basket rather than going up strong, I WILL LOSE MY DAMN MIND. P.S. I'm a little pissy.
  14. He'll be a fine assistant manager at the Aaron's Rental in Paducah.
  15. Time for Virshon to grow up and get himself out of the doghouse and for the mental aspects of the game to start catching up to the physical for Parrish.
  16. Game day and ZipsNation is abuzz in anticipation of some MACtion!
  17. This book is a little out of date but it is an interesting read about how the shoe companies get to these kids early and the corruption resulting- Sole Influence: Basketball, Corporate Greed, and the Corruption of America's Youth
  18. In the end, I think it will still come down to Buffalo and Toledo.
  19. Glad they bolded the Bye week so that I know it is a home game.
  20. Oh how I will miss Tuesday night football...
  21. I think he's been in the doghouse starting with his one game suspension. I think Groce is trying to set an example that will help him down the line if he remains a Zip.
  22. If you get there at midnight when the doors open, you can get a voucher for a bobblehead.
  23. Who's on 3rd, hustle 2's on 2nd.
  24. Hustle 1's on first...
  25. The Zips look to avenge their ugly mid-season loss to Miami this Saturday at the JAR. The Redhawks had dropped four in a row in the MAC before heading into Buffalo Tuesday night and pulling the upset. They are led by 6-3 freshman guard Nike Sibande’s 14.6 ppg and 6-9 senior forward Logan McLane’s 5.8 rpg. In the January fiasco in Oxford, 6-7 freshman forward Dalonte Brown led all scorers with 17 points.
