  1. Agreed, but up until the last month of the season the consensus was that he was consistently mediocre, was the worst KSU coach in years, and that they'd can him if they could afford to do so. His mediocrity and long tenure is just what you get if you hire a coach who's neither stellar nor awful enough to get canned. I'm really with you on the Senior Night thing.
  2. 3. Strange that we have to wish for a guy that won' be here long term, but that's the nature of the beast. Success leads to moving on at this level. Otherwise, you end up with....Rob Senderoff.
  4. Amen K. Amazing what some people earn to coach from fringe sports.
  5. Interesting PD article on Ohio college coaching salaries over $200K- http://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/index.ssf/2017/03/51_ohio_college_coaching_jobs.html#incart_2box Damn, I need to learn fencing!
  6. Easy guys. A forum is a place for the free expression of ideas concerning a topic of common interest. To that end, it will have dissenters and contrarians. Some of them/us, are just plain full of ****, but nonetheless, everyone on here wants what they think is best for UA (with the exception of trollers from other schools). As such..........relax.
  7. Don't forget Radford. That was well worth my $4.
  8. Wow, I hit a Potato Bowl nerve! It was a joke gentlemen!
  9. Yep, tough to put imagined butts in imagined seats!
  10. The reality is that no matter who was here and who will be here as the UA coach, somebody would/will b!+ch. That's the nature of sports. If the Zips win 100- 98, their defense needs work and the bad defensive coaching will eventually bite them in the ass. If they win games 40-30, the offense is struggling and the coach needs to pick up the tempo. If they win 26 games, they need to toughen up the schedule. If they win 15 or 16, they need to lighten up the schedule. No coach or scenario is going to make everyone happy. When this all calms down and we look back years down the line, I think we'll all see that the Dambrot era was a good one for the Zips. Perfect? No. Disappointing at times? Yes, but all in all, we'll recognize that KD was good for UA basketball.
  11. Somewhere there's a 20 year old who stole a laptop or got a 3 on his ACTs that we can rescue. LOL.
  12. I think we're going to hear a term we've become unfamiliar with- JUCO.
  13. There are plenty of teams running a three guard offense, but Antino, Noah, Ivey and Utomi on the floor is nearly a 4 guard offense. It could certainly be good offensively and in pressure defense, but I think they'd get killed on the boards and in the post. I only gets worse if Hughes is gone. The smaller lineup actually plays into some of the things I'd like to see under a new regime- more up tempo and pushing the ball on offense; occasional full court pressure on defense; better switches on defense; and some zone on defense occasionally to mix things up.
  14. Given the quality of the seating, I would suggest the following sponsor for naming rights to the JAR-
  15. As was George Thomas's article.
  16. I heard today that AD Williams is on vacation, in a place where he can only be reached late at night. Nice timing when they need to get on this quick.
  17. Unfortunately, those donations by KD wouldn't make much of a dent into what needs to be done. For example, Duquesne is putting $40 million into its arena renovations. Nice thought, but you'd need 132 of his friends to kick in $300K to get there.
  18. The ability to recruit well is critical, but the last time UA made it the priority in a coaching search they hired...rumble...rumble...Iaaaaaa........
  19. If that's it, he'll need some top notch experienced assistants...
  20. I think people get a little optimistic as to Akron and the MAC's stature and position in NCAA basketball.
  21. I like McNees and think he'll be a fine head coach SOMEDAY, but making him a D1 head coach right now would be like promoting the night janitor to CEO.
  22. The voters screamed NO to funding an arena in 2014. It was going to go on the ballot with a levy for the police 911 and dispatch system but there was a such an outcry the arena portion was dropped. Nothing has changed. On top of that, the current athletic program is costing each UA student an average of over $1000. No money from the public + no more money from tuition= a bad formula for a new arena. I also think the less than stellar crowds at our lovely football facility maybe deter potential corporate investors as they'll wonder what benefit Infocision is getting out of having their names mentioned on random Tuesday nights in November on ESPN12.
  23. I'm curious to see what our perspective will be in a couple of days. Right now, we're the "jilted lover." Today, we'll strongly profess that "she realllllly wasn't that hot anyway." In a couple of days, maybe we'll admit that maybe she was.
  24. So so many issues re-awakened by KD's departure- facilities, budgets, the quality of the MAC.... Hopefully, this is the impetus for the administration to confront these issues.
