  1. I did some checking. According to www.goseawolves.com the teams participating in the Great Alaska Shootout in 2007 doesn't list Akron, not does it show Oregon State and Colorado State. Maybe a lot has changed since their list was put together. Here are the teams listed:Butler, Liberty, Gonzaga, Michigan, Texas Tech, Washington State, Western Kentucky and host UAA.
  2. Did anyone see this in the Beacon today? Sounds promising!Dambrot will be taking the team to the Alaska tournament (Great Alaska Shootout I believe). Oregon State and Colorado State will be in it so far. We will play Temple at the JAR, and maybe Saint Louis Univ. Possible road games at Clemson, Mississippi State or a Big Ten school if we can fit into one of their schedules. Also it mentioned that he is more determined than ever to make it work here at Akron!
  3. I'll take it.
  4. That sucks. Miami Oh, Northern Illinois, Temple and Toledo are options. WTF!
  5. What a great selection! I've never seen most of them before.
  6. In the NIT the mid-major team should host the game. Mid-majors are excited to be in any post season tournament for the exposure, whereas the so called "big" schools or BCS schools don't care and will have poor fan support.
  7. I was listing to WKNR on the way home from work yesterday. Host Kenny Roda has Kelly Butler (OL from the Browns) as a guest host every week. They were just talking about March Madness and out of the blue Kelly Butler said. "What happened to Akron?" "I can't believe they didn't make the NCAA tournament and it's unbelievable that they aren't even in the NIT." (paraphrased). It was nice to hear that a professional athlete took notice to the ridiculousness of the tournament selections.
  8. BZip_08Temple can get home games of that caliber because they play at Lincoln Financial Field. The Philadelphia Eagles home field.
  9. I don't believe it is going to be televised in the Akron/Cleveland area.
  10. The bad news is another conference, Colonial, is making a move past the MAC further limiting additional bids for us. Last year they had George Mason, the VCU win adds more credibility to them.
  11. As soon as I saw Stanford in the tourney the other day I new it was BS. They suck.
  12. Definitely bring back the high step hard swinging style. This walking around crap is boring. Don't worry about the music majors. If they can't handle that style I guess they can pick a different major. Play hard!!!!!!!
  13. It doesn't matter cause Can't STATES gonna own the AK-NOT Zippers next year. You guys are never gonna put a team out on the court like this again. GO Can't
  14. One division makes sense for basketball. I'm all for it in basketball. We have an end of season tournamement which is based on both divisions playing one another with no consideration of division. In football the divisions matter because the top of the east plays the top of the west. So winning an East division title or a West division title means something in football, but really doesn't mean much in basketball.
  15. Boyages indicates that currently the MAC is in regular contact with the NCAA Tournament Selection committee. "We have a primary and secondary contact from the NCAA Selection Committee that is assigned to our conference," he explains. "We are in constant communication with them with conference calls, we update them personally and notify them of good wins or close losses to top teams and we encourage them to attend our games in person." That is my favorite part of the article. Sounds like they need to push these "primary and secondary contacts" a lot harder because whatever they are saying to them now obviously isn't working!
  16. It sure makes the excitement of beating Can't 3 times in one season wasted.
  17. Unfortunately the ones who Do like us Don't matter!
  18. ...and please cut down on the turnovers. We have been sloppy lately.
  19. The other key is to flat out be more physical than Can't. Wood is a true enforcer. Is it just me or have you noticed that he is starting to become the leader of this team? That's good news because Wood will be "the man" next year.
  20. I know where you're coming from zen. I've had the same things, plus broken bones. Playing through it has a lot to do with what tendons or bones are affected, how severe the injury is and what is on the line at the time. Make no mistake, Dials and Linhart will not be at 100%, but I believe they can still play.
  21. I know, we're playing Can't... what's your point ? at least Tiffin doesn't suck !
  22. Hey IflushedU. When's the last time Can't beat Akron in basketball?
  23. We won't lose tonight. Mark it down.
  24. We're not playing Tiffin here. Everything is on the line from here on out and there is plenty of off-season coming up to rest any ankles, thumbs or whatever! Everyone will be playing if we truely want to become
