Well since I don't have a recorder in my car... I'm sure he will be glad to tell you what he said if you contact him.

Gee,I guess you can talk to him yourself. I am sure he will be glad to fill you in.

Anybody happen to be listening to 1350 this afternoon? Thats definitely NOT a station I listen to on a regular basis. But, French took a pretty good shot at some of the posters on Zipsnation. It was related to soccer. But, he and his dunce Dunn seemed to go out of their way to make their point Anybody?

I don't post on the soccer side. But, I was listening to 1350 this afternoon. Steve French took a pretty good shot at some of the posters on Zipsnation. Wasn't actually kind. I think it was a general comment and probably not just about soccer.

CMU,s RB has also put up over 170 yds. rushing by himself. Thats CMU,not BGSU,Toledo,Can't State or NIU.

Special Alumni ticket offer for this Saturday
Lee Adams replied to Rockhopper Wallaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Glad they ALL showed up. -
I doubt anybody will be 'fired' unless TB is fired. Maybe some 'demotions' or rearranging. Once the head coach goes down that road its a real slippery slope. Unfortunately, this team needs a lot more than adjusting special teams.

Anyone planning to go to the UMASS game?
Lee Adams replied to akronzips71's topic in Akron Zips Football
As I posted a couple of weeks ago, season ticket holders could request FREE tickets to certain away games. Since there is little demand for UMASS tix there, that was one of the games (Miami,NIU were the others I believe). We got ours more than a month ago. Good excuse to go over on Thursday, sightsee Boston on Friday and hit the game in Foxboro on Saturday. Sad when the MAC has to give away free tix to drum up attendance. -
Just saw a pig fly past my window.

So what this program is still saying, since 2006, is that we can only 'hope' to compete with the weak sisters. They are no closer to being able to 'compete' with the best teams in the MAC than they were last year,2 years ago etc, etc. Bowden gets his 5 years. Remember, this starts affecting recruiting NEXT season. I would not think that Bowden will get any kind of extension until he shows some VERY significant progress in the win column. Recruits will look to see if Bowden will be around in 2015 or 2016 before they decide to sign on at Akron. Its is critical that this program win at least a couple more games this season and get to .500 next season. Otherwise... How sad.

Only things that might give at DeKalb are the lights on the home side of the scoreboard next week.

Off the top these guys stink. That includes Bowden and his coaches, especially on offense. Didn't have these guys ready to play today. The regression, especially offensively is,well, offensive. As soon as Hirschman is healthy he plays. Kyle Pohl becomes an assistant coach the rest of the season. Chisholm finds the far end of the bench. All the senior linemen on offense go to #2 on the depth chart. All seniors in the secondary go to #2 on the depth chart. The underclassmen can embarass themselves at home just as well as the seniors can. 2-16 after 18 games of the Bowden era. Watching NIU toy with Can't State in the first half, then drop the hammer,on the road in the second. Another ass whuppn' comin' up at DeKalb next week. Bowden is on the verge of losing this team for the rest of the season. He needs to do something drastic.
-
A few things:1) Is Bowden going to give more carries to RB's other than Chisholm on a consistent basis? That might be a start. 2) Whether or not Bowden actually said he did not want his QB's to run,and this has been discussed on this site previously,in the MAC and in this offense having a QB who is mobile enough to make defenses pay attention to the possibility of an ocassional 'run' certainly helps the rest of the offense. Somebody said it before, the QB has to be able to run/move 'effectively' enough to present a threat. That includes at the goal line as well as the middle of the field. Pohl hasn't been really a significant threat even before he got dinged. 3) Bowden has been trying to pass in goal situations. That might because he doesn't trust the run game. Problem is that end zone gets real crowded, as we have seen. Whether the lack of an effective ground game is a play calling problem,a personnel problem,an O line problem or a combination, it seems time to make some serious adjustments.

I'll just keep posting. Problem with bringing in 'one and done' guys who play means underclassmen sit and get no experieince. So,next year ya start over....again. What is really troubling about this team(aside from the play calling, the secondary etc, etc) is how the offense has regressed. You have to put up 4 TD's per game to just be competetive in the MAC. The offense ain't cuttin' it. The games they put up that many was a win, against an inferior opponent an almost shocker and a loss. But they were competitve in a game that they needed to win. I've seen enough of Chisholm. The O line seems to have taken a step back. The QB play is not consistent. Neither is the offense. Wideouts are serviceable if they can get the ball to them ACROSS the line of scrimmage. The offense wastes too many plays. Pohl is dinged and that doesn't help. The MAC schedule is not kind. Akron is not 'superior' to any team they will play. They are certainly not 'superior' to Can't State. The best shot is Miami. Have a chance with UMass but that is on the road also. Oh well,Saturday is another day.

I now see others are complaining about the play calling and to some extent the execution of plays by the QB. Its been discussed on the site previously this season. Shouldn't be a surprise. Its a shame. Last weeks game should have been a win as so this week. The players only hear so much of the rah,rah from the coaching staff. Now,its just that rah, rah. The mentality of losing is becoming so ingrained, again and the schedule is only going to get more difficult. Its realy going to take a 'fluke' win to start changing the mindset of the team, not to mention the fans.

Got the 'free' tix for the UMASS game in November. Good excuse to do some sightseeing in Boston. One if by land two if by air.
-
Thats kind of a 'duh' on the coaches. And please don't start with the if you guys are so smart you would be coaches. Up in 212 there were a significant number of fans saying the same thing. And, when they finally did decide to run the post with D'Orazio,TD. ULaLa's safeties were playing halves. They were cheating from the hash marks out. The middle LB was fairly close to the line until they started looking middle. Play calling? QB?
-
And they will start beating those teams you say they were capable of winning, when? I am concerned that when all the one year guys who are playing and leave this year, that you still have a bunch of inexperienced players at key positions. IF this program is going to get over the hump, its still at least 2 seasons away. Most people have no interest at this point. And, will not show up for games unless this program wins early in the season. They had a chance Saturday to follow-up on the UM game,but....again....
-
Actually expected them to win 2 games thus far. ULALA was one of them. When they start getting credit in the win column for 'beating the spread',then we can start paying attention to that insignificant piece of information. Or, maybe TB is getting a bonus for every game where the Zips 'beat the spread'. Its a losers mentality that has been fertilized here pretty much since this program went D-I. Whats the record?
-
Questionable play calling through out(is that Bowden or the guy in the box?) and a QB who isn't finding open receivers and missing too many throws. Doesn't look like there is any help at that position. Offense isn't what it was last year. Defense actually looks competent. Maybe 2 more wins this year with some breaks.
-
This is a loss this program can build on. Obviously the defense found SOMETHING today. Michigan's defense was bad coming in,but not that bad. Its a shame some of the play calling at crucial times could have been better. And,a couple of mistakes by Pohl were killers. But,to have a chance to win at the end better be something that team remembers the rest of the season. I do wonder if we might see more of Hirschman(if healthy) if Pohl continues to make some questionable decisions. I am a Pohl fan. He can give them a chance to win most of the time. But, he does tend to lock in on receivers and does force the ball at times. And,he is not very mobile. The pick in the end zone was a good(bad) example. Whether it was the right play call is another matter. Steve French hated it! That ball should have been 10 rows in the stands. Looks like some different people are going to play more. Pratt is looking better. I'd like to see Hundley and the kid from Ravenna more at RB also. If a loss can be a positive, this is it. Gotta win next Saturday.
