Got the 'free' tix for the UMASS game in November. Good excuse to do some sightseeing in Boston. One if by land two if by air.

Thats kind of a 'duh' on the coaches. And please don't start with the if you guys are so smart you would be coaches. Up in 212 there were a significant number of fans saying the same thing. And, when they finally did decide to run the post with D'Orazio,TD. ULaLa's safeties were playing halves. They were cheating from the hash marks out. The middle LB was fairly close to the line until they started looking middle. Play calling? QB?

And they will start beating those teams you say they were capable of winning,when? I am concerned that when all the one year guys who are playing and leave this year,that you still have a bunch of inexperienced players at key positions. IF this program is going to get over the hump,its still at least 2 seasons away. Most people have no interest at this point. And, will not show up for games unless this program wins early in the season. They had a chance Saturday to follow-up on the UM game,but....again....

Actually expected them to win 2 games thus far. ULALA was one of them. When they start getting credit in the win column for 'beating the spread',then we can start paying attention to that insignificant piece of information. Or, maybe TB is getting a bonus for every game where the Zips 'beat the spread'. Its a losers mentality that has been fertilized here pretty much since this program went D-I. Whats the record?

Questionable play calling through out(is that Bowden or the guy in the box?) and a QB who isn't finding open receivers and missing too many throws. Doesn't look like there is any help at that position. Offense isn't what it was last year. Defense actually looks competent. Maybe 2 more wins this year with some breaks.

This is a loss this program can build on. Obviously the defense found SOMETHING today. Michigan's defense was bad coming in,but not that bad. Its a shame some of the play calling at crucial times could have been better. And,a couple of mistakes by Pohl were killers. But,to have a chance to win at the end better be something that team remembers the rest of the season. I do wonder if we might see more of Hirschman(if healthy) if Pohl continues to make some questionable decisions. I am a Pohl fan. He can give them a chance to win most of the time. But, he does tend to lock in on receivers and does force the ball at times. And,he is not very mobile. The pick in the end zone was a good(bad) example. Whether it was the right play call is another matter. Steve French hated it! That ball should have been 10 rows in the stands. Looks like some different people are going to play more. Pratt is looking better. I'd like to see Hundley and the kid from Ravenna more at RB also. If a loss can be a positive,this is it. Gotta win next Saturday.

If the running game doesn't get off early with Chisholm,the kid from Ravenna will get a lot more touches,hopefully.

Its almost impossible to judge from reading an article written by a sports columnist what actually happened much less what someone was thinking. Given some of the negativity on this site that has been thrown at the Akron athletic department it would likely be a mistake to sit in judgment of Winters' decision. Someone earlier commented that they had the opinion from reading the article that Winters was full of himself etc,etc. Or could be the other side viewed itself as some kind of white knight coming in to 'rescue' Winters from D-II. In any case so far it hasn't really worked all that well in Akron but hope springs eternal.

Problem is they don't have a Brett Biggs,Dom Hixon,Charley Frye etc. etc on this team.

It's certainly a comment on the state of Akron football when a game against a 1-AA opponent in the second week of the season is seen as a 'must win' by a number of fans. I certainly agree. But what happens when they play BGSU,OU etc,etc. 4-5 wins is a must this year.

Read the PD today. Appears that finally,TB is realizing that Chisholm may not be the RB for this offense. He talked about how running 'north/south' ain't all that bad. Expect to see the kid from Ravenna getting some more touches this week.

Scary and potentially another embarassing game for Akron. This is probably the level(1-AA) that Akron could be consistently competetive in right now. As far as who is on the 'hot seat', looks to me like anyone in the D secondary better look out. Yes, Chisholm,who to me doesn't and hasn't looked like a RB who fits this scheme should be looking over his shoulder if the next 3 games go badly. D line looks better. O line,one more game will give a better read. I watched the tail end of TB's show on cable tonight. He is not bubbling over with confidence as is his wont. Saturday is a very critical game for this program folks!

First 6 games will tell the tale. If this team is 1-5 or 2-4 there are going to be some 'starters' who will be assistant coaches the rest of the year. Michigan is a big loss. But then you have ULaLa at home and OU at home. Thats assuming a win over JMU(maybe not a smart bet). If they can't beat JMU,ULaLa and OU at home,the next 4 weeks in the MAC are against contenders. While the Defense 'looks' improved up front the secondary is still scary. If the offense can't find a running game(Mr. Chisholm your job is in jeopardy) this team will struggle to score points. ASSUMING they can beat JMU,the ULaLa game is going to be a good indicator of where these guys are.

Try BGSU and Tulsa. Actually a decent game. Better than the Keystone Cops.

Well, she is right about the stadium. As a number of us said,building the new place wasn't in and of itself going to increase attendance or winning over time. Unfortunately,the history of this program since it went completely to DI has been, except for a few years pretty much a failure. In the next 2 years including this one this program has to get to the point where it can win at least 7 games consistently. This season is critical for the program. There is a lot of gambling by the staff on bringing in transfers to help out in the short term. Hopefully,the program does a 180 and can win 5 games. Next year with more of Bowden's recruits in the fold there has to be a 7 win season and competition for a MAC championship. While attendance will never be consistently good as has been shown historically, at least the program might have a shot at bowl games which will bring in more revenue and help recruiting.

After all the hype,this guy better get on the field.

Enough already. Nobody here should be sticking their long noses into what is a very tragic and ultimately private matter at this point. ENOUGH you people!

Obviously you were watching another DB. If you commented 'too early' thats understandable. I was at that game. Whatever else DB did or didn't do,that was one of the best catches in Akron FB history. Please go watch some more games.
