  1. Brookhart said it on the pre-game last night...teams HAVE to have a MOBILE QB to give Defenses another weapon to plan for... why in the name of good coaching decisions does he insist on playing a statue at QB...the decision to put CJ7 in the game WHEN he did was pathetic...it penalized CJ7 and the team...it was an act of desparation made because the coaches poorly managed the first 3 quarters...
  2. Good teams and good coaches find ways to win these kinds of games...the others are 4-7 and waiting until next year... again...most of us have already commented over the past 3 months about the bad coaching decisions...bad QB play....bad defensive play(at least up until last week)...the promise of Williams and Allen...etc,etc...we as fans of the program now have to hope that the President and AD do the right things for the good of the program after 11-23-07...be at the BOWL on 11-23-07...
  3. said it before... wait until 11-23-07 to start evaluating from Brookhart on down...he gets no pass this year...if the team takes a s..t the next 2 weeks there is NO reason to keep him...there is a confluence of events here that will NEVER happen agian...new stadium...evaluation of the current coaches...etc....if Proenza and Rhoades blow it now!!!!...who knows?
  4. BRYAN WILLIAMS has done a fantastic job..notice when Dennis Kennedy is in things don't move quite as far?!
  5. the definition of leadership is 'the abilty to keep one's wits when all about you are losing theirs'...
  6. No doors. Won't be at the final game so I can't take a pic for you. But if it's like last night, someone should have no problem getting a pick with no one in there. I went in a couple of times and was the only one in there. Hot as hell in there, too. Kind of like a sauna. With that small of a crowd, the bowl REALLY shows its age.Actual photo from last night. No joke here.Dr Z, are you sure thats the Rubber Bowl? Looks like Springfield HS to me! Looks like K.E.N.T. to me!!! whoever took that picture JUST missed me...
  7. Brett Biggs...he is still at Akron..
  8. OK lets ALL come back to earth here..thank god for Bryan Willaims, he makes Brookhart, the staff and the rest of the players look better...haven't seen that much speed since Dwight Smith was here...Williams has a chance to play on Sunday...as some of us said a couple weeks ago, lets wait until 11-23-07 and evaluate the ENTIRE season...not just a few games...lets see if the coaches and players have REALLY turned the corner or if OU was a one shot deal...the sad thing is that if the ZIPS had hung on to the Temple game, they would be going to Oxford with a shot at the division...lets see if Brookhart and his staff can get them ready when they are literally playing only for pride...
  9. halellhua to that!...we will se what the coaches, players and fans are made of TONIGHT...see ya at the BOWL!
  10. before brookhart or anybody else tries to use the schedule as another excuse for a potential Akron loss..OU played Saturday...had the same time to recover and practice...if anything Akron should have the adavantage...HOME game!
  11. :wave:Watching Central and Western on the Deuce...now WMU has little to play for...but they are taking it to Central in the 1st half...the game is competetive...already been 1 player ejected...wonder if the ZIPS will show the same type of effort as WMU tomorrow against OU?...any bets which akron team we watch at the BOWL?
  12. The fact is that Domonkos thought he had dropped the class, but technically, he never did. It was an honest mistake that was not caught by anyone. That's a problem with the athletic department's academic eligibility branch. Somebody should have been there to catch that. Domonkos should have been required to report it to an academic advisor, talk it over, and then been walked through the process of dropping the class. This is why we can't maintain our recruits' eligibility (if they qualify in the first place) -- there's nobody there to help them.oh really!?
  13. The way we've played the last three games, we'd be lucky to have Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street doing the play-by-play.At least we'll always know that i think bert and ernie have a previous engagement...maybe j.d. can go up to he press box and tell all 5 people who are watching at home how the ZIPS would be 6-3 if it just weren't for those darn 6 or 8 plays EVERY game!
  14. No offense but I don't think I'm the only one who's seen enough of CJ7 at QB... HE'S NOT A QUARTERBACK!!! Stick him at reciever or defensive back and leave him there. You can't play Div.1 QB with a weak arm and bad decision making. And Quit the Troy Smith comparisons Troy Smith was an Elite 11 QB coming out of h.s. and had offers to play QB alot of other places. Where as we were the only Div.1 college dumb enough to give CJ7 a shot at playing QB. Jacquemain is the starter for a reason... HE'S A QB (maybe not a good one, but still a QB)!!!My point is that if Jacquemain gets most of the season to prove he is 'not a very good starter' then the other guy who was neck and neck with him for the starting job deserves at least as much of a shot to show IF he is better...oh by the way...Jacquemain just got suspeneded..does his ass get nailed to the bench like Jackson's did?
  15. now that it is obvious it is, wait until next year time, its time to prepare for next yearthis team has become less competetive as the season has progressed...off field events that should not be occurring continue..and the coaches have not put the talent on hand in the best position to win..first,if Mack Rhoades is in fact going to be here he needs to tell Brookhart that he and is staff are being evaluated the rest of the way...second...we know what Jacquemain can and CAN"T do...let Jacskon play the rest of the way so he can be FAIRLY evaluated for next year...let the underclassmen play on the defensive side...the guys playing now are embarassing themselves...and IF the decision is that some or all of this staff doesn't fit, use the promise of a new stadium to recruit a new coach...not just plaers
  16. I think we're putting the cart before the horse here. We're not building a stadium for JD or because of JD. The stadium was needed / desired before JD arrived and will be here long after JD is gone. Mack reiterated on the broadcast last night that the design & engineering are on track to break ground in 2 months and have the construction done for Sep. 09. A few of the players being recruited this fall will be on the field for the opening. Most all of the players recruited next year by whomever will not. That doesn't give a new coach "a couple of seasons to right the ship before the stadium opens". IMO, nothing will be decided before we see how this recruiting class turns out now that we have a firm stadium plan with renderings to show off. If we keep JD, the program will get better because of the new facilities. If we replace JD we may get even better with a new coach but not in 1 year and therefore I don't see the athl. dept. eating his remaining contract. Unfortunately for JD, his future as a 1a HC anywhere else may be running into the ground. USE THE STADIUM TO RECRUIT A COACH! ...not just players!
  17. good observation...i commented on that last week...i was at the Buffalo game...brookhart seems to have detached himself from the TEAM!!!
  18. i agree that you do not fire any coach at this point in THIS season...and i don't think anyone would be calling for anyone to get fired if there weren't some things going on that SHOULD NOT be happening at this point in this season...1)the team has gotten LESS competetive week after week...nobody is improving...2) players keep getting suspended 8-9 weeks into the season????!!...and how in the hell is a player getting suspended for 'academics' now? the team pays people to keep an eye on those things and send up red flags BEFORE they happen...if Brookhart still has to suspend for 'behavior' problems the players are basically telling him to go screw himself...3)the same things keep happening on the field game in,game out...Brookhart and the staff have not been able to correct them..if the ZIPS were playing competetively and improving weekly...most of us would be a lot more tolerant...after the season is over the ADMIN. has to issue an ultimatum IF it decides to keep Brookhart...improve the play on the field...improve the behavior of the coaching staff...get control of the program...or look elsewhere for work...
  19. How about WE'VE earned this national embarassment...even when we look this bad and I'm very critical of the performance I will still proudly be part of this fan base.Don't get me wrong, I'll be there on Wednesday. but I have the feeling that it's going to be very empty.another butt whippin' will happen Wednesday...and its going to be cold...MAYBE 5-6K tops...how freaking pathetic!
  20. sameGOOD NIGHT!
  21. where were you guys last year when some of us were complaining about all the 'sacrifice' games the ZIPS are playing every year? the players get beat up...they can't practice...it effects the MAC schedule and WE the FANS pay for it by having to watch losses...they want people to go to the games..get some home games early in the year against competetive teams at the same level..a few wins at the Bowl would have done wonders...
  22. what in HE double toothpicks is going on? the whole gd team is going to be suspended!? is the BG defense that Bad?
  23. As far as the coach is concerned, find somebody with a HEAD coaching resume...whether that is at I-AA or D-II,they ARE out there, especially with a new stadium coming...the AD? try to find somebody old enough to know who the hell Gordon Larson and Jim Dennison are...we have guys who are half MY age, well almost, running multi million dollar prgrams with a multi million dollar stadium coming who haven't found the MEN'S room at the D-I level. Don't tell me that UCONN,Central Florida, South Florida, Buffalo can get solid coaches and win in a reasonable amount of time. Hell OU got the head coach at Nebraska. I'd take my chances with that. Cincinnati got a solid OSU assitant and developed into a winner...What makes you think anyone would want the Akron job at what it pays? Jim Prye (sp?) left Akron after one year as offensive coordinator to go to Illinois and coach tight ends making more money than JD does. A new stadium isn't going to attract people. Tradition, ability to pay good assistants, fan commitment, etc. are better to attract candidates. We have none of those. Based upon what happened to Dennison, Faust and Owens after their time at Akron, the job is a complete dead end.The comment about age is silly. I have 13 employees who report directly to me and all of them are older than I am. Each of them thinks they are smarter than I am and none of them are. Just like Zips Win! points out, these guys have no new ideas and are riding out the string.........some are going to come to the end of the string before they thought they would when I get done in the next couple of months. Every time they try to prove how smart they are, I listen to them and then politely prove them wrong. Any study of any industry shows that the older someone gets, the less likely they are to take a risk. We need a home run hitter to come in here and hit some home runs. If a knucklehead like me can manage a $100,000,000 territory at 38, Mack or someone his age can manage a $10,000,000 Athletic Department. I just have an extra zero at the end of my number.YES you are right YOUR comment about age IS silly...I supervise 7 employees in a field that I dare say is more dangerous and challenging the MOST...I really do..ALL are YOUNGER than me..and my PERCEPTION at times is that they THINK they know more that I do...do they?...who knows?..one who is perceptive would have realized that it is NOT age but experience and CREDIBILITY...sometimes the longer you have been around the more ideas you have been exposed to,the more experience you have and maybe more credibility...but not always..if one assumes that because of the position they hold they have respect or credibility that person is a failure...OH money isn't the measure...do what I do..you'll see...any way...it wouldn't matter if Brookhart was 25 or 55...is he credible to the players and coaches he supervises? we will see...a Chinese proverb states that 'it is the truly wise man who knows his own ignorance'...
  24. Cincinnati got a solid OSU assitant and developed into a winner...Some new information and confusion for me contained in your post Lee. For example, I didn't realize Turner Gill was a head coach before getting the Buffalo job. For what sport did Cincy hire an OSU assistant and become a winner?Mark Dantonio, Tressell asst at OSU...went to Cincy got that program going again...those are HIS kids there now!!...yep dad gummit just like I knew Turner Gill had no Head coaching experience but a hell of a lot more credibility than jd looks like he is doing a preyyt good job with THE WORST program in the MAC if not D-I when he took over...
