  1. We won't see as many long balls in the future and the long ball focus was definitely a game plan to exploit the LA secondary that had given up numerous long plays already this year. Long balls also co tributed to a skewed completion percentage for Woodson. That being said, what a great opportunity to work on those plays with little risk of interceptions.
  2. TB is generally very accommodating to reporters but her question was so out of place it deserved the response she got. It could have only been topped off with a, "Bless your heart."
  3. You don't spends all off season working in am new offense, because it's what you need to do, only to abandon it. You don't have to buy it, but it's the way it is.
  4. If he is our second best QB ( with Pohl hurt) we cannot afford for him to be injured at WR.
  5. Pohl shouldn't even be in the mix if the coaches are going to go with a QB run offense. Truthfully, I don't know why after at least 2 concussion KP16 would want to play, again. I hope someone is talking to him about the long term repercussions of concussions.
  6. Yeah, I was agreeing with you. The personal fouls I give you, the pass interference probably was the best option, though.
  7. Yes, I agree. Pitt came to play with last year in their rearview mirror. Penalties did play a part, not sole or even biggest contributor, but they did play a part. A stupid personal foul by the defense turned a stopped 3rd down into a 1st down, that ultimately led to Pitt's first field goal and momentum. The D kept themselves on the field longer than they should have. The focus has been entirely on the offense in this factor, but in some cases, the D is shooting themselves in the foot. There were none of these stupid, undisplicned penalties in the second half aginst Savannah, so let's hope these have been addressed and we don't see them, again. . I thought Tommy looked more in command and little less frantic this year. I know it was Savannah State, but there was still a calmer presence. I agree with those who have said Woodson looks scared. He looks frantic. It would be nice if he can mature out of it. I think until he does that it will be hard to know what he can and cannot do as a QB.
  8. Agree! I would be surprised if ULL shows up complacent. They haven't had a hot start, though decent (1-1.)
  9. Not so fast. At the end of last season, Bowden said it was evident to him that in order for them to build a winning program in the MAC the QB needed to be able to run the ball. I agree with him, and believe it will work with Tommy Woodson as long as he doesn't turn the ball over. I get that there is a lot of loyalty out there to Pohl, but he is now in the injury prone category, and we are talking about head a injury. They will not take any unnecessary risks with him because of that. You simply can't build an offense around that. If Bowden was committed to a QB run oriented offense, it should never have been KP16 in consideration, it should have always been Woodson and Chapman. Our problem has been less about multiple QBs and more about Chapman not being ready. Both Woodson and Pohl were able to establish a rhythm immediately upon entering the game. We did not experience turn-overs or penalties as a result. The O line is already learning those cadences in practices. Even if Woodson becomes the main guy, we need to continue to give Chapman meaningful reps so that if Woodson is injured, our season does not become a train wreck.
  10. Oh, yes, after a 52-9 victory, we needed a good dose of negativity, and along comes Lee Adams. Why don't you just go cheer for Can't State?
  11. Receiver play was better today and I saw a few of particularly good catches from Hundley, Lane, and Young. I thought Goodman looked better, too. I hope we see more of the long ball from Lane and Young. It was really nice to see us throw the ball over the middle more. Hundley looked good and has no doubt established himself as our #1 RB but Donnell Alexander seems like he will not be a bad #2. Newman Williams pulled his hamstring. I would be surprised if they don't sit him out next week. Deandre Scott has played fairly well this season and isn't getting a lot of press. Nice to see him with the pick today. Brock Boxen has done a terrific job playing for the injured Rodney Coe. play from a true freshman. I really hope Woodson is the guy . He looked very in control of the offense. He really showed good decision-making, apart from the early pick. He puts a nice "zip" on the ball that neither Pohl or Chapman do and seems to be able to quickly develop a rhythm with the offense.
  12. It's been a pretty balanced attack. Really nice to see. Newman Williams left the game in the first half I haven't seen him back. Hope they are just being overly cautious.
  13. I had predicted a 41-7 game today and we are on pace for that. No doubt about it, we have had to our share of ugliness, but not willing to go down the 1-11, fire Bowden path, yet. 28-9 is a respectable halftime score, despite the ugliness earlier.
  14. Woodson has always thrown the ball well and I believe has the nicest looking pass... when he doesn't throw it to the wrong team. Let's hope he has really grown in his ability to not throw it to the other team.
  15. They may have to start to bench these defensive players if they can't stop the stupid personal fouls. Game 3 against Savannah State? Are you kidding me? Completely undisciplined.
  16. Watched the game replay this week and a few things stuck out to me: Personal foul by defense negated a 3rd down stop that ultimately led to their first field goal. That was a momentum shifter we gave away. It was almost like a defensive turnover. We have had far too many of those and I can see why TB is mad at the D. Pitman and Jatavius Brown had very good games. Our secondary did good enough against Tyler Boyd that if the O had put up points, and exe died drives to pin Pitt back a little more, we would have won Chapman looked better than I realized. Passes looked good, for the most part. Some lf his drives were killed by drops. He was much better throwing than against OK. Poor play calling and the collapse of the line too fast did not help Chapman. I think if Chapman can slow down his option read a tad, he will do better. That should come with experience. All that being said, I always thought the Woodson throws the best ball, but was ruined by poor decision making. Jerome Lane made some drops, but not due to lack of effort. Does he have the hands to catch or was there a reason he was initially playing safety? Imani Davis and Goodman are still dropping the ball too much.
  17. Ohio has a slew of state universities and colleges. The tag line allows UA to let students know there are focus areas before they even begin It might get Akron a few more looks than if they did not have a tag line. I really don't understand why it's so controversial. The bigger part will be in how the administration takes the focus areas and integrates with industry more effectively. That could be a significant differentiator. When I think of a tech school, I am inclined to expect fewer nonsense gen ed courses and more courses related to the major (and this is coming from someone with liberal arts degree.) It would be interesting to see that if the University can come up with any innovative ideas like Mitch Daniels is doing with Perdue's , "Bet on a Boilermaker" program.

  19. I wondered the same thing and then it occurred to me, the person who created the video might not have done so without Matson's knowledge. There were a few other similar videos by different people.
  20. Playing one QB is the ideal situation. We are not in an ideal position and might be in an even less than ideal position than we were 2 weeks ago. At least now, Chapman has some reps under his belt in non-conference play. Moving to an offense where we run the QB, an injured KP16 was fairly predictable. If we put all the eggs in his basket we would be in an even worse position.
  21. He started as a true freshman.
  22. More potential than anything we have at WR, RB, or return position.

  24. You, obviously, know little to nothing about football. Defense has several guys from power 5 conferences. Tra'von Chapman was a 4 star recruit, one OL from. Power 5 conference and the RB from CSU, was successful at his last school. We don't get those kids without Bowden and Amato. Is the offense where we want it to be? Nope, but making fun lf someone's cultural background is just ignorant and adds nothing to the conversation. You cite only your own cultural biases and provide no factual basis for your comments. Maybe it's best you remain a distant follower.
  25. I meant OK, not, Pitt.
