Instead of searching for one picture in an odd position to try to make a point, maybe you should have compared it to pictures from many years ago too? See below. I think this truly proves that people love to find things to dispute during the "off season". It didn't happen overnight. I'll stand by my statement of what he's looked like for quite some time. And I sure hope he continues to put in work.
-
He's looked like that for quite some time. I hope those muscles finally equate to something special on the field too.
-
That would be fantastic. He is already in Canton, right? Maybe this helps strengthen the media's recognition that great players do come from Akron/MAC. My question would be: 1) Are other media people there other than those that normally cover the MAC schools? 2) MIGHT other national media be there who might cover something like this if they are already doing HOF stories?
-
Same thought I had. Can't spell. Garbage journalism, like usual. But nice job finding a way to wiggle the greatness of his beloved Suckeyes into the story.

One of the most frustrating plays I'v ever had to watch with my Zips Defense on the field. I think just about everyone on the field missed a chance to tackle him. He was a fantastic scrambler, but I never saw his conversion to NFL receiver happening back then. At the beginning of the game the next year at the Rubber Bowl, when we got our retribution, John Mackey smacked him so hard in the backfield on a play that the ball popped about 10 yards behind him. I felt like that was a little bit of justice for what happened the year before.
-
I would rather have seen these capabilities elevate themselves between Jan. and Mar. of this year, rather than some later time in Europe.
-
Yes, this area has the talent, but we don't get enough of the good talent. And maybe some forget the years where OU, Buffalo, and Kent were pretty much automatic wins every year during the Owens era. So, you could also argue that the MAC East has never been a powerhouse during most of our 25 years in the MAC. It still IS a mystery why we've only had very limited success. I still appreciate the 7-3-1 FBS-record season from Gerry's boys in our inaugural MAC season in 1992. Then there was the back door MAC title in 2005. Then the bowl in 2015. That's 3 out of 25 years. Damn. We can't ever seem to get over the hump, despite factors that say that shouldn't be the case. Hence, a .500 season and a bowl game seems like a realistic goal, most of the time.
-
That's where I am too. I just can't even see the .500 mark. And for those predicting 8 or 9 wins?? WOW. I can't even dream that high at this point.
-
I'm happy that he wanted ZipsNation to know about it. Good Luck young man.

You have no idea how happy I am to hear that.

I tried to point that out to them. It was about MAKING a gay-themed wedding cake. Not someone saying "I won't sell you a cake in our store because you're gay." Kreed, I think you essentially end the ability to debate this issue when you proclaim that you know how you'll view an issue decades from now. Just for the record, my views on many things (I was a Liberal) are dramatically different than they were decades ago. I also have no idea how I will see them decades from now. And maybe most significantly, how I will rank each of them in terms of how important they are to my life is completely undetermined. All we know for sure is what people currently in those age groups say, and how they vote. And that changes. When did I say that my views on racial issues have always been the same? If I did, I'd be lying.
-
Did you mean "know"? The statement I made about "liberals grow up" apparently was misconstrued enough that it launched you into a Saturday Typing Marathon. It had nothing to do with Neurological Development (but thanks for all of the information you provided on that very exciting topic this morning) or Being Smarter. But there's no disputing that you gain knowledge (not the same as intelligence) as you get older. The progression through stages in life where you are gaining more knowledge changes what's important to people, such as the challenges of owning a home, paying property taxes, raising children, managing/owning businesses, etc. Yes, there's certainly other pieces to the story than just "Young People are Liberal" and "Old People are Conservative". But your chart showing that people who are Solidly Conservative rises from 4% to 21% (an increase of OVER 500% !!) with age, while the percentage of people who are Solidly Liberal decreases slightly with age, easily explains the voting differences that we've been seeing in the respective age categories. I hope you're finding something more fun to do this weekend than this.

Uh oh. When someone isn't "blessed" by an offer, that could be a really bad sign.
-
You're still ignoring the most important factor that's characterized the voting population for decades. Those liberal fanatics in their Teens and 20s (like me) don't stay that way. They never do. If they had, Democrats would be winning landslide elections today. Instead, you see the results I posted earlier. The numbers don't lie. I can't remember a time where Republicans dominated public offices across the board like this. So, If you contend that stances on social issues have "loosened" recently, it obviously didn't matter. Other issues were clearly more important to voters. But I guess you can keep hoping that the next young generation does not change, and will become the 50-70 year old liberals that break the mold. Good luck with that.
-
This part is true. They are finally getting fed up. Ah yes. The dream of a liberal revolution is still alive. You obviously weren't following my story earlier in the thread about growing up with all of the Liberal hippies in the 60s and 70s. Guess what? They grew up. Just like every young generation. And just like me and my 18 year old buddies who were looking for the next flower-painted Volkswagen Van that was heading to Berkeley. We laugh about it today.

Of course. I'm just a moron in my 50's who doesn't understand politics, loves to discriminate against people, and is tensely waiting for the Millennials Apocalypse to take over the nation's elections. All of which also has nothing to do with the current Republican dominance of elected offices, voted in by this country's supposed "liberal majority". Maybe they're just mistakenly coloring in the wrong circle on the ballot I actually had no idea that urban centers vote overwhelmingly for democrats, which has long been the obvious reason for the situation in _______________(fill in any major city in America here). And I also don't know a thing about districting of house seats (which, by the way, mix urban and rural areas in many cases). Thanks for enlightening me. However, several of the major categories on that list are STATEWIDE or NATIONWIDE voting, which has nothing to do with where the population is concentrated within those states. It actually amuses me that so many are still piling on to their mountain of excuses 8 months after the latest wave of Conservatives were voted into office. Should I mention that they are also 5-0 in races since November too (despite their expert predictions to the contrary)? Maybe it will prompt another highly intellectual "you don't know what you're talking about" response? Followed by several more paragraphs to follow which will serve to educate me, and will certainly include something about the lack of Millennial-like righteousness in my life ?
-
Then maybe you should tell them to stop voting so many Republicans into office? President Senate House of Representatives 33 of the 50 State Governors 32 of the 50 State Legislatures And more locally, Ohio chose the current President by nearly a Half MILLION votes. Like I said previously. If you don't like what's going on, VOTE. That's a "right" that is unquestionably yours. You will always have ONE, just like everyone else who has decided to choose the leaders referred to above to represent us, make our laws, and enforce them. Blocking streets and vandalizing businesses doesn't change that.

Good point. Before we ask students if they know that Jason is an Akron alum.....Maybe we ought to ask Akron students if they even know who he is.
-
So, how exactly should we determine if actions are legitimately a result of their religious beliefs ? I think you know where the problem exists by my previous posts. Today's liberals/progressives (or whatever) are simply trying to exercise their determined social agenda by demanding/protesting that certain things be given rights and protections, and everything else shall be labeled "discrimination", and cast aside as "BS". Our country doesn't work that way. I think some of the recent elections where a Prez, Senate, House, and an overwhelming majority of the Governorships have swung Conservative again might be an indication that we're turning back to an era of sensibility. And if you don't like it, you have an opportunity to vote again in the next election. I'm 100% against discriminating against someone because of the inherent color of their skin. And I'm appalled whenever I hear a sick news story about someone being beaten up, etc., just because they decide to be in a Gay relationship (as I said earlier, I already have good friends and close relatives who do just that). However, I'm against allowing Gays to enter into the sacrament of Marriage. Sorry, that doesn't earn me the "you hate Gay people" label (see 2nd line of this paragraph). And I'm even more adamantly against granting someone "rights" as a woman when they are actually a man, especially when it disrupts the logical order of the rest of our society, and the safety of women/children. Like I said earlier, the latest version of the Liberal mentality now even labels people who've opposed Obama over the last 8 years "a racist". It has sadly helped cause the words "racism" and "discrimination" to lose their true meaning. It's gone WAY too far. It's time to bring back common sense.

I don't believe he has ever actually "graduated". I recall being told in recent years that this is creating a dilemma with getting him inducted into the Varsity A Assoc., because it requires that they have a degree. Maybe someone here knows more than me about this.
-
Now THAT's a great topic for a poll. Question: What percentage of UA students know this? Here's my guess: Only 10% know that Jason is an alum. And only a slightly higher number (12%) know that we even have a D-1 football team.

Speaking of opportunities for publicity (Just like the JT situation).......I've lived in Akron for about 35 years, and I have NEVER heard this or seen this mentioned.....anywhere. AKRON, OHIO - HOME OF THE FIRST CHAMPION OF THE NFL Use It !! (borrowing a line from a-zip above)

Dambrot says 'yes' to Duquesne this time
skip-zip replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I didn't even know he was coaching. Thanks. -
Balsy, I wasn't referring to the pending legislation at all in that post. I was only stating the circumstances in that particular case in Oregon, to clarify someone else's posts about it. State legislators are paid a yearly salary to make laws. That's why we send them there. They make tons of them. And if they had to use some of that time to officially vote to demonstrate that their state protects the rights of business owners to make those decisions, I'm all for it.
-
I'll respond to this part of your post, and provide some clarification. If we are talking about the same case, it's a Gay Wedding Cake that they wanted a Baker to make and decorate, themed for 2 guys marrying each other. And the owner was a Christian who was against Gay Marriage. It's not about hating Gay people. It's not about Gay people being "sinners" (EVERYONE is a sinner). And it's not about refusing to sell the items in his store to Gay people. To add, if you know any of the details of the case, you'd find that the Bakery actually stopped making Wedding Cakes altogether to avoid having to deal with the issue. Again, just go down the street and buy a cake from a business that wants your business. That's what all of us do. Instead, they contacted the Civil Rights Commission, and the ACLU eventually got involved. We all know what happens at that point. Oh, and by the way, I 100% agree with the first line in your post above.
