And that's only a small sampling of the proof that this "inclusiveness" is opening the door to predators. And I'm surprised that even mainstream media sources have been compelled to report these incidences. Here's a few more: http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/58525-frightening-incidents-begin-in-target-s-transgender-friendly-bathrooms

Dambrot says 'yes' to Duquesne this time
skip-zip replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
How in the world did I forget the guy from my very own UA student days? Especially after we had all talked about him during our latest coaching search. And I bet there's more. They just aren't coming to me right now. -

Dials McFadden Walsh McNees Kretzer? I'm sure I am missing some. I'm happy to see so many former Zips players wanting to get into coaching. -
There's the place where liberals have all gone completely astray in the common sense category. YOU have decided that telling men to use the bathroom that says MEN, and women to use the bathroom that says WOMEN is discrimination, hate, or akin to early 20th century laws against black people because of their skin color. You, and the rest of your flock, have also decided that a man "feeling like a woman" should matter, but religious freedoms and convictions should not. I often wish that many of the millennials had not been spoon-fed by their parents, and would have learned that you can't just insist that everything you don't like should be changed. Even something as straightforward and certain as the official results of elections produces outrage. That's how your generation was raised. Everything you don't like is "BS" (see above), because you decided that it is because you want things to be some other way. Like I've said to you a few times already, people start to "get it" more as they get older and experience more of life. Since you've insisted several times now that it's "just a bathroom", then we can just leave that one alone now, right? If you have a pee pee, urinate in the Mens' room. Simple enough. You can't get more "common sense" than that.

There's way too much to follow here, but let me add a few things: 1) I have gay friends and relatives, including an uncle and cousin. I love them the same. 2) I invite the millennials/liberals (or however they are defined) to tell me who should have "rights" if their own mother, wife, young daughter or young niece has the crap scared out of them by having a big burly man walk into the bathroom with them? Your stance that this "man" should be allowed in there because they are acting on their own "sexual preference" would change in a heartbeat. 3) See #2. The problem with the entire argument is that today's young liberals want whatever THEY feel is right and just to be protected. And everything else is an act of discrimination against somebody. Where do you think the rhetoric that, "if you don't like Obama, you must be a racist" began? 4) When someone won't service you in a store because of their religious beliefs, wouldn't it be easy to just go to another store down the street?. That's what I do when I don't like how a store is treating me. But when liberal lawyers, left wing organizations and the media offer to exploit your case for you, everything changes. They even strategically choose to challenge those cases in areas where there are liberal judges that would be sympathetic to them. Why would they go to such effort? Because....it has nothing to do with being denied service at that store. That store merely serves as their latest vehicle to force their own social beliefs on the rest of us. 5) Common sense laws to protect public safety are a necessity. No .1% group of people in this country should be permitted to violate or change those laws at everyone else's expense, especially when it comes to trying to claim that you are some gender other than the gender that you actually are. I recently got my driver's license renewed. Should I have had a right to make them put "F" on there? Should I report it to the media, and hire an attorney? It's getting ridiculous, folks.

I couldn't agree more. Sadly enough, we're working on most of our students and alums from a "no interest at all" starting point. As a businesses analogy, you have groups of prospects. Some are good, some will take a lot more work, and others aren't interested in buying your product at all. I'd hate to try to estimate the percentage of our students or alums who fall into any category higher than "not interested at all". Earlier this summer, I know I tried to illustrate what it would take to just get 10k more Summit County residents into that stadium. It was only 1% or 2% of the entire population of the area. Seems attainable. But not when you are starting from a point of ZERO interest.

While they simultaneously claim that they want everyone to be treated equally.

Let me add something to Hilltopper's post above. Balsy, I love some of your posts. And I know you are young, but let me point out something else to you. Your theory that the young liberals will eventually all become older and become the major voting block that takes over the country's elections is flawed. It never happens because people see the light as they get older. I happen to be old enough to remember the gigantic liberal movement of the 60s. I even remember telling everyone that I wanted to go to college at Cal-Berkley. I even diligently studied the facts of May 4th at Kent, and wished I was there to join those students. So if your theory was correct, those of us in our 50s, and 60s like me would still all be voting Democrat. We aren't. People change their views as they get well into their careers, raise families, buy homes, pay taxes, see what truly drives economic growth, understand how the mainstream media operates, etc.

I don't recall anyone accusing him of saying anything about graduating. I can see that this is a traditional transfer. There shouldn't be any confusion about his requirement to sit out a year under those circumstances. I was only asking if anyone knew that this (a non-graduate transfer) was going to be the case with him.
-
No worries. This will all be over when everyone eventually decides that they are tired of the latest liberal social agenda being forced upon us, and we return to the next era of common sense. About 30 years from now, everyone will laugh when you tell them that there were people who actually fought for something like the "right" for Men to be able to go into a Women's bathroom. And if this crusade doesn't fade away on it's own soon enough, the Supreme Court will take care of it.
-
I briefly read a story earlier that said that he is actually sitting out this coming year. Did anyone know that he wasn't going to graduate before he transferred? Anyway, the story indicated that this was actually a good scenario for him and for UNLV, since they would be losing their other good PG after this coming season. So, it looks like they already have him slated to be the man for his final year of play. I hope I got that info. correct.

I feel the same. Looking back, I consider ourselves fortunate to have a kid like this come from Nevada (as a POY) to Akron to play for 3 years. He even stayed after sustaining a devastating injury, and fought to come back asap. Had also been a starter since his Freshman year. I say "good for him" to get to go home and play at UNLV for a year to close his college career.

And also have 12 FBS schools to compete for fan attention, vs. only 8 in our "smaller" state. -

Thanks. This is interesting. A couple of things really caught my attention: 1) Texas A&M higher than Texas. 2) The fact that Texas A&M is also highly "profitable", in addition to being the king of athletic revenue. 3) I wonder how significantly this number changed for them after joining the SEC? 4) A sense of hope that it's not unfathomable to have 2 schools in one state generating major support and revenue. -
Just to put that into perspective, can you imagine the entire population of the state of Ohio, Multiplied by 100, packing into downtown Cleveland for a parade?
-
Now now. Cleveland might be a "football town", but a Championship in ANY major sport in Cleveland was a big deal. There'd be more, but the difference between the Cavs and Browns would not be in multiples of thousands
-
If you recall, several of us mentioned that we were getting similar information on this attitude/mindset issue last year. Thanks for sharing. But, I was hopeful that maybe things had changed. Yes, we shall see.

Definitely a Friday night, and definitely only 4,400 attendance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012–13_Akron_Zips_men's_basketball_team

I was responding to the poster who was calling the NDSU game a sellout, which was far from correct. The 4 games that year that were over 5,000 included the OU game, which shows as 5,770. But I believe that official capacity since they added the chairback seats upstairs several years ago was reduced to 5,500. We must have let some extra people crowd into the bleachers that night, in spite of the Fire Marshall's restrictions But you're right that the NDSU crowd was pretty decent. And thanks for sharing the video.
-
Not even close. Only 4,400 for a Friday night Bracketbuster Game on ESPN2. But that season did have good crowds. There were 3 straight conference games of 5,000+ to close that year. FYI: Not the same year as the VCU home game, if that what you were thinking.
-
We actually didn't sell out ANY games that year. And with the 2 teams already losing a combined 8 games to start the season, the potential Blockbuster match-up and sellout crowd simply wasn't going to happen on a Thursday night between Christmas and New Years with the students on break. However, you may want to judge it in relation to the other games that year before you consider it to be some kind of disappointment, just because it wasn't a Sellout. It still exceeded the attendance of any game up to that point of the season by a wide margin....and it surpassed the attendance of all but 4 games the entire season. And ALL of those other 4 games were on Saturday.
-
Correct. You just brought us back to "quality of our competitors". The people we need to get on board in this city to make a significant increase are not going to come because we're "winning more", or because we're "a MAC contender". Those people don't pay enough attention to our record or the MAC football standings to tell you if we're 8-2 or 2-8. Or whether we're in first place or fifth place. Many couldn't even tell you that the MAC teams play in the same football division that produces the National Champion. But if Akron were to knock off just one single opponent of significance in major college football, it would turn heads.
-
You can say it 1,000 times on here, and still, some people will choose to ignore it and create their own delusional theory.
-
Amen. Give all of the lower level FBS conferences at least a chance to compete for a National Title, and I think that would be something that could impact attendance in a significant way. We could call it December Madness !!

Go back and read my post again. It was much more about the fact that an assortment of RANDOM colors are in our crowd at games, rather than a dominance of AKRON colors. It had nothing to do with the other arguments we've had over the years about some fans from competing schools showing up at our games. There's Sunbelt teams that have continuity in their audiences. I've been there. It would make you sick.
