  1. You have got to be kidding me. These three counties wouldn't rank in the top 25 recruiting areas let alone be number one. Very poor facilities, dropping participation rates, and terrible attendance are hallmarks of these three counties. Do some research on the following county combinations and see if you can make a case for Stark/Summit/Cuyahoga. My best three would be Tarrant/Dallas/Collin counties in Texas. Second choice would be Harris/Fort Bend/Brazoria counties in Texas. As long as Bowden gets better recruits I really don't care where they went to high school. I agree with Big Zip, the average college fan doesn't follow local high school sports so a local recruit is a non-factor.
  2. The pressure mounts on the YSU Board of Trustees to hire Tressel. Pretty impressive list of signatures on the letter. http://bit.ly/MDIPSr Vindicator story http://bit.ly/MDJ9AK Beacon Journal story
  3. Another opportunity for Mr. Tressel. http://bit.ly/1j8lC67 The current YSU President was only in the position for 7 months before resigning.
  4. Hey coach, tell it like it is. From the Blade article "The worst home loss in the Tricia Cullop era at the University of Toledo preceded the most candid news conference of those six seasons. Speaking to a room of reporters Thursday after a gutless 82-62 defeat, Cullop did to her team what Akron had done. She ripped into them." Read the article at http://bit.ly/1fIz7a1
  5. Great to see Dan on the bench yesterday. Great Guy. Nice article by Marla Ridenour. http://bit.ly/1dGyIrm
  6. Elton....Let's play the game and then see if the torch needs a new home.
  7. Site is up and running for the first conference games starting soon. Our first conference game is a week from today, so login and pick the winners of the first week's games. As Zip fans we need to do better this year. Our friends from Portage County out scored us last season. http://www.pickemgames.com/MAC
  8. "..... assuming nobody transfers out which hasn't happened in a few years." Should I assume you are being facetious. I remember Dakotah Euton, Michael Greene, Josh Egner (not sure you can qualify this one as a transfer), and Blake Justice as transfers in the last few years.
  9. There is no difference in officials by league.. Almost every midwest basketball referree who works MAC games also works Horizon games. They all come from the same pool.

  11. Your memory is failing Zipmeister.....Stephanie was the Zips beat writer prior to Tom Gaffney who preceeded George.
  12. Are we confusing the Taiwan based Super Basketball League (SBL) that Zeke has joined with the bigger and more lucrative mainland based China Basketball Association? I am happy that Zeke has found a team for this season but I am almost sure the salaries mentioned in the article are not applicable to the SBL.

  14. On the other hand, it should give Q an advantage at the offensive end. I think it gives an advantage to any player on the perimeter that has a quick first move towards the basket. It should help the better teams and really scare the weak defensive teams who rely on touch, push, grab and hold maneuvers to keep up in contact with the quicker players.
  15. It would be hard to get George out of the JAR. That premium quality office with no windows is a treasure. Who would want an office in Buchtel Hall with a panoramic view of the campus.

  21. Beware of the new road and exit closures put into place today by ODOT. They change the flow of traffic to and from the Q. They are especially acute for travelers coming north on I-77 from Akron. The biggest impact inbound will be the closure of access to Ontario St. from the E 9th St. exit of I-77 north bound. All traffic from that exit must turn right and go south on E. 9th St. Outbound after the game, traffic southbound on Ontario must detour to the E. 9th St entrance to I-77 South. That puts almost all of the outbound traffic after the game onto an already busy entrance from E. 9th St. Full info from ODOT at http://bit.ly/WEpiVT
