  1. My personal top 5: 5. 2022 @ Kent. White hat, white jersey, blue pants. Not sure what it was about this look, but I found it to be really sharp. They wore this at MSU as well IIRC. 4. vs. Ball State 2017--Gold hat with throwback running A, Blue jersey, Gold pants. Opened a can of whoop-ass 3. @ Oklahoma/@ EMU 2015. Blue hat with full roo sticker and jersey number, white jersey, blue pants. May be my favorite helmet they ever wore. 2. @ Kent 2016--Gold hat with white facemask, white jersey, white pants. White Z on one side of the helmet, number on the other. LOVED it. 1. All White Storm Trooper--worn a few times. I believe just once or twice with a white facemask too. @ BG in 2017 comes to mind. I believe @ Ohio in 2016.
  2. From Hustle Belt: What's New for the 2023 Akron Zips https://www.hustlebelt.com/2023/7/6/23782885/whats-new-for-the-2023-akron-zips-whats-new-coaching-staff-roster-changes-transfers
  3. Zips were going to be in a Cancun event with Vanderbilt and Oregon State, but it fell through once bodies began washing up on the shores there. They had to get a waiver to return to Cayman. Solid mid major field.
  4. Sad way to go out. Hell of a career. I hope he’s okay.
  5. Also wish I could attend. I'm hoping there is another similar event closer to the season. Perhaps a pre-season tip-off pep rally like the one that was held before last season for both the men and women.
  6. I suppose those in the know may have heard that Guthrie asked Donnelly to resign, which happens a lot of the time that you see a headline that says “so-and-so resigned.” I suppose it’s fair to be upset. But the idea that this administration isn’t taking baseball seriously or trying to make it better is just the silly emotion speaking right now. The program has been a dumpster fire for a long time now, and it was brought back under the previous administration without any plan for the future. I feel bad for everyone involved too.
  7. I’d hate to see Landers go. He looked the part the second he took the field and could have been a huge force in the league for a long time. Maybe grades weren’t up to par? He was a late HS signee after all, with previous big offers.
  8. I’m chomping at the bit to see sports books come out with their win total numbers for the MAC. Put the farm on the over, I’m expecting it to be around 3.5. Edit: sure enough, Draft Kings has it at 3.5. You’re welcome 😉
  9. Lots of new blood. Just what this program needed badly. I'm very eager to watch them play, though my expectations will be pretty low early one.
  10. I thought the same about removing some of the rubber, but apparently it was an irreversible mistake. Perhaps because there is no way to remove the rubber without damaging the turf itself? Not sure
  11. When Astroturf installed the new stuff last year, they made a mistake and put twice as much crumb rubber in as they were supposed to. Water could not drain properly. You are supposed to be able to spill a bottle of water and see it disappear into the drainage system. With too much of the crumb rubber, water (in the form of rain) was pooling on top, potentially causing a safety hazard/unsafe playing surface in inclement weather. The company who installed the turf is at fault and is on the hook for the $1 Million+ mistake. Totally new surface coming in. After 13 seasons with the same turf, we get a new surface two years in a row.
  12. Plot twist: it was a good thing for Huggins to say. Hopefully Groce says the same thing on Ken Carmen’s show! Am I doing this right?!
  13. Same high school as Jatavis Brown. Love the pickup!
  14. It's back^^! Noticing a trend?
  15. “The AM sports talk radio host was okay with it” is GOLD.
  16. "Cancel Culture Mob" Finish your drinks!
  17. Stupid a** thing to say. You almost have to believe he was hammered to get on terrestrial radio and say something so stupid.
  18. I hope he kills it. I think he could've made it at Cleveland State or even for Groce's brother as an experienced guy with potential. Best of luck to Garvin.
  19. As NWAkron’s unofficial PR manager, I believe he means that Prince Mosengo, Kobe Mitchell, and Garvin Clarke were turned into Kaleb Thornton, Shammah Scott, and Ali Ali. That is certainly an impressive upgrade.
  20. Been a strange day on ZN.o. I guess if the biggest knock on the guy is his performance in the NCAA tournament it’s a good sign?
  21. Just saw a 20 second bit on WKYC as well. Much easier to get these spots when the local baseball team is terrible.
  22. I’m sorry, but as a program that routinely makes deep runs in the NCAA tournament, we just can’t afford to keep guys like Ali around. He cost us a tournament win for God’s sakes. There are dozens if not hundreds of higher quality players in the portal that would be happy to come to Akron for that final roster spot!
