zip37
What a ballgame, reminds me of a couple of games the Zips played against Kentucky Wes. in the 70s. Anyone else think that Butler's Zach Hahn, might be the son of Chris Hahn? For the younger set, Chris Hahn was from In. and was here one semester and never came back after 1st semester, [Hipsher's first or second year]. They actually had some big guys and were a good opponent.
meatwad
Worst shooting ever. Now I understand how YSU beat Butler. That is 2 hours I will never get back. I'm actually mad I wasted my time tonight. Worst part is, UConn was horrible. If Butler plays so-so on offense they win that game by 10. Ugh. Dave in Green
As discussed in another thread, I was just hoping this would be a close game down to the wire, and that the following wouldn't happen: ..... Just hope that one team isn't stone cold and the other team makes a laugher out of it. .....

MDZip
Awful performance, Butler picked a bad time to go cold. On the bright side, nice closeup on Zeke during "One Shining Moment". Too bad you couldn't see Akron anywhere but cool for him to be included.
GP1
That is 2 hours I will never get back. I'm actually mad I wasted my time tonight. CNBC had a show on Enron. You would have spent your time better watching that. I turned the game of at half, it was terrible. The tournament overall was good for college basketball this year, but last night was terrible for college basketball. It has been since the 1940s that a team scored as few points in the championship game as Butler did last night. I know there are a lot on this board who think sports in the 1940s were better, but your nuts if you want that.

Too bad you couldn't see Akron anywhere but cool for him to be included. That was my thought too. For the length of time they showed him, we could have had millions of people across the nation looking at the word "AKRON". That would have likely been the best exposure we ever got that we didn't pay for

Let'sGoZips94
That was honestly the worst national championship game in I don't know how long. Give the championship to VCU. They could've won it.

If there is any truth to the rumor that after his playing days Chris was struck by lightning and subsequently only answers to the name Andrew, I believe you may be correct. Captain Kangaroo
It was interesting to see another mid-major crap down their leg and experience an epic drought against high-major competition. Hey...Butler held UConn to 53 points. I give 'em a little credit for that one.
taxpayer
I guess I'm in the minority regarding the game last night. Poor shooting, yes. Poor game, no. If you simply like scoring I can see why you'd be disappointed in the game but the defense, effort, emotion and strategy was there. The kids just didn't make their shots. It was still a high energy game played by excellent athletes. It simply demonstrates just how hard it is to play at that level....can't do it every night and whether it was defense, nerves, enviroment or whatever I still enjoyed watching it. Those kids are human, remember? I did feel bad for Butler and sick that UConn won another title and that somewhere Jay Bilias is smiling which really aggravates me. Dave in Green
Honestly, neither team belonged in the national championship game. Both just happened to get on really hot streaks at tournament time, and Butler's hot streak cooled off a game too soon. The two best teams over the course of the whole season were Ohio State and Kansas. But with the best players leaving for the NBA after their freshman seasons, it's pretty tough for anyone to put together a veteran talented team that can dominate from beginning to end of the season. Kentucky, for example, had four underclassmen picked in the first round of the NBA draft after last season. Imagine what Kentucky might have done this season if all those guys had been back. GP1
I guess I'm in the minority regarding the game last night. Poor shooting, yes. Poor game, no. Poor shooting? That's like saying the guy driving the Titanic was a poor driver. It's been since the 1940s that a team scored that few points in the national championship game. Poor game, Hell yes. That's like saying the trip on the Titanic from England to the US was great...right up until they ran into the ice. The game last night was great until they threw up the ball at 9:23. At the end of the day, sporting events are about player performance. Both teams were terrible last night. Walker is talked about like he was great in the finals. He went 5-19 and his team won. If Nasir Robinson doesn't commit possibly the worst foul in the history of the Tournament, UCONN doesn't win the national championship. I don't know if Pitt wins it either, but surely anyone would have been better than Butler last night.

No second chances for Kansas who got run out of the building against VCU. Sorry Ohio State, Bufords 3-16 performance sunk you. Duke? Arizona scored 1.5 points per possession to ruin your chances. Etc, etc. Each event led us to last night's championship. If any one of them didn't happen I think we have a better game. Such is life in a tournament format. The two best teams over the course of the whole season were Ohio State and Kansas. Were the Packers the best NFL team over the course of the past regular season? Have the Indians ever had a great regular season record, then lost in the playoffs? Have the Cavs ever had a top regular season record, then lost in the NBA playoffs? The best teams in the regular season are irrelevant. Regardless of sport. It's what you do in the playoffs that counts.

Zips Win!
Both teams deserved to be there. However, it was still the worst college hoops game I have ever witnessed. And this includes the games at the JAR where B. Hip was draining threes from all over the court.

Dave in Green
Oh, both teams definitely deserved to be there according to the format of the tournament. That's just the nature of the beast in all these tournaments. The team that gets hot in the playoffs and carries that heat through the championship game usually ends up as champion while better overall teams may stumble along the way. Sometimes the champion is the best overall team for the whole season and sometimes not. Personally, I'd take Ohio State or Kansas in a best of seven championship series against UConn, Butler, Kentucky, VCU, or any other team in this season's tournament.
