How much confidence do Zips fans have after winning against VMI?

DefenseFront......Yes

Secondary..........Some

Receivers............Yes

RB......................Yes

QB.....................Some and growing

Kicking................None

Kick offs may kill us. I am hoping that they can minimize the problem and we win a close one.

I'm usually a fairly optimistic guy as Zip fans go. But I'm not feeling it this week. Alex Gillette is a pretty good spread QB and he has a lot more experience than LR8. I think that will be a deciding difference. When UA wins in Ypsilanti, it's usually a close game. When they don't, the game usually gets away from them.

That's the burning question.

I'm torn. I want to believe, but I can't convince myself that beating the opponent we beat last week makes us consistently better-prepared to face MAC teams. And we're probably not ready for two good performances back-to-back. On the other hand, this shouldn't be a very good MAC team that we are facing.

This guy doesn't have much confidence. Link

That guy appears to be going strictly by stats, which even I don't do. :)

Zips have faced three tough FBS opponents and one weaker FCS team. EMU has faced two tough FBS opponents and two weaker FCS teams. That will skew the stats every time.

By the way, EMU beat one of those FCS teams by only 7 points.

EMU 38 Akron 16

3 FGs?? lol We certainly do see things differently. My prediction is Zero FGs but Akron finds a way to win.

(or are you predicting a missed extra point?? That I must say...is ballsy)

I think we'll botch a 2-point conversion as time expires in regulation (Zips were trying to make the score a more-respectable 38-18).

Remember -- last week I predicted the Zips would win 22-10, and the score was actually 22-7 at one point. Bad MAC teams always post some goofy final score like 22, 11 or 8.

I predicted last week’s score at 35-13 ...expected VMI to get 2 FGs. And the Zips left 2 points on the field. The score should have been 38-14 with decent kickers in the game.

Hard to predict this game. I think the Zips will score 28+ points but if their kickoffs don't improve... that will not nearly be enough. Even bad teams can score some points with a short filed on every possession.

Even though the Zips don't have a good kicking game right now...I can't predict anyone will miss an extra point. That is a relatively simple play for even bad kickers.

Obviously there is still not a lot of confidence in this team. It appears that both EMU and the Zips are viewing this game as a test to gauge how good or bad they really are. The fear here is that Akron gets behind early because of a long return or interception. EMU is going to force Moore to throw because they can see his limitations. The more he has to throw the more that get knocked down or picked. Stop Chisholm and take your chances. Unless the coaches get Moore a moving pocket or some opportunities to throw on the move we are going to see more of what we have seen.

Only other chance is that the defense finally steps up and actually controls a game for a change against a legit opponent. Thats a stretch.

Sorry EMU by more than a TD! Hope not.
