g-mann17
Saw the news van and a cameraman as well. Interesting, but i wouldn't be surprised if it was just for a story on how big it's getting...nothing of substance. Canton Repository just posted that they spoke with Tressel's people and that he has been at his home all day in columbus and that he is not taking a coaching job at Akron. Maybe not, but the moron that wrote the article doesn't even know that Infocision Stadium has better meeting rooms then most of campus and they hold high profile events there all the time. The guy is not a moron. He's a very good, reliable, writer. I stand by my statement, Todd.

jem101
Fox Flash Report on JT & UA Pretty sure this is linked to the Yardbarker report, which is just reporting the Lake County Sentinel report. Not really any new information.
UAZip0510
While the latest reports aren't promising, I'm still holding out some hope. Urban Meyer said he wasn't going to OSU numerous times...you never know.

RowdyZip
there was an offer made, wonder if the UA will at least announce whether he accepted it or not. This whole thing is getting quite asinine. Are you quoting the goofball from twitter who said Akron offered 6 million over 4 years? I have some swampland in Arizona to sell you if that's where you're coming up with info. People are making up BS, broadcasting it on Twitter/Fb on purpose, and then laughing. This includes some of our own. Time to stop monitoring and sit back and wait to see what happens like I did with our last homerun.
Roo2
there was an offer made, wonder if the UA will at least announce whether he accepted it or not. I doubt they would announce that he passed on the offer. Schools/teams don't like to admit that the coach who ends up getting the job was the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice. Everyone likes to be able to say at the press conference that "we got the guy we wanted all along." Even if everyone knows that probably isn't true. hiroad1
So, i started a few days ago saying the Tressel talk was crazy. Then I got caught up in he euphoria too It was fun, and Tress to Akron would have been huge. If it is not gonna happen let's reset. Ianello is gone. We were really excited about that. Most of us probably imagined a coaching profile that would have included some experienced D1 coordinators or a few people with head coaching experience. If we are back to that, so be it. It can still be great. I want to see somebody who can inject some energy and game day intelligence. We have to work our way back up to being competitive , then dominant in the MAC. We thought we had won the lottery, but we didn't. We are still a lot better off than we were five days ago. Go Zips!
RootforRoo44
We'd be better off with a monkey as coach...so not too much of a consolation. This one isn't dead yet. I think we are forgetting that the Canton Rep article just said he wasn't in Akron today...we all knew that. Other than that, it's mostly opinion, and we have plenty of that already. I'm sure if he really turns it down, someone will leak info and a real media outlet will pick it up. Then we will know.

UAZip0510
yep im a jackass. My point was how out of hand this has got. i post one thing on fb, then eveyone says they have "sources" saying hes there. Do I have sources yes but thats bc I also work for the media, know people in the trustees/athletic/presidents office and ive done all of my postings about this on twitter. This has got so out of hand it isnt funny, you post one thing about Jim manning the fryer at Ohio Burger you have 25 fb status' saying they saw him. I don't know you, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and assume you just didn't think this through before you did it. You need to remember that college radio broadcasters - even from WZIP - lack credibility to start with for most people. Pulling a stunt like this doesn't help that. You have essentially lied to your audience, only to sit back and laugh at them when they react to your "news". The next time you report something, they will remember this. Your credibility is gone now, and that's something that will be difficult to build back up. I love WZIP and the Sports team...I'd like to think I played a large role in the accomplishments of that team over the past decade. It pains me to see someone damage its image and credibility - even temporarily. An apology might be in order but if not, at least learn from this moving forward. You are not only representing yourself, you're representing the team, WZIP, and UA. Never forget that.

I know 100% for sure that wasn't the offer. Is Info going to pay the $900k + still owed to Rob?? Then an additional million a year to Tressel??? Where are these millions of dollars coming from that we didn't have before? Because I have news, more ticket sales and sponsorship and a few donors isn't enough to cover all of this. plowerman78
Agreed, as i said before waaay to out of hand. Was I wrong for what i did on facebook, ehh prolly but at the same point was proving a point. I appologize to anyone who read to much into it. Its understandable why it has gotten to this point, people are excited to bring a big name in, the Akron community wants to win. We all want to see something good in that stadium outside of a 41-0 drubbing of Morgan State. With that being said i will say anything ive posted on here or twitter (whatever dont call me media bc i work for a college radio station ok i live with that not gonna lose sleep but im pretty sure I know ALOT more information and people then most when it comes to this) has been credible. go zips

ZipRoo
The fake student union rumor ruined a lot of the speculating. too many people took it and ran with it, now everything i see is talking about that...shame. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I tracked down the idiot on FB who started that rumor. He's now on FB bragging about it. See, this is when social media gets out of control and becomes worthless. Everyone wants to be a comedian. Everyone wants the "look at me" attention. Well, big guy, if you're reading this, you did some damage today and really hurt your own reputation with a very careless and immature act. You toyed with people's hopes and emotions, people who have really labored to bring about change at their beloved school, and you go tossing out nonsense like a 10-year-old sissy girl prank. Hard to believe you're a UA guy, 'cause your maturity level is nil. Maybe guys like you need laughs to exist. Are you that insecure that you'd stoop to this level, then laugh and brag about how you mocked so many? Look in the mirror, dude.

Dave in Green
The Tressel-UA story will be over whenever the two parties choose to make absolutely clear to the public that the story is over. If Tressel ultimately decides not to accept the offer, he could do UA a great service by making a joint public announcement with Dr. Proenza about what a great opportunity the UA head coaching job is, but it just wasn't the right fit for him at this time, and he reluctantly had to decline. Further, if as part of that announcement he were to publicly offer to help UA in its search for the right coach, that would also work to help keep the UA head coaching position in the news. Even without becoming head coach, Tressel still has tremendous leverage to help make UA more attractive to an up and coming Jim Tressel of the future.
