Akron @ Can't State

Won't be heading to Can't tomorrow.

But there will be no sadness.

There will be no sorrow.

You see,

When you start to venture east of Summit

You'll find the IQ's begin to plummet.

Culture shock sets in and you just might stare

When you see that first chick sportin' pit hair.

Although I love the team

And I love my Zippy

The trip ain't worth sitting next to a smelly hippie.

So thank God for ESPN

And STO.

Fewer dreads and less B.O.

I'll be watching

In my den

And the Zips will be beating

That Can't State ass

AGAIN

Excellent, Keener!

Due to prior evening plans, I hope to catch most of this on ESPNU before I head out. Hopefully the Zip's talented front court will click much better than the last few games, because I think we'll need to use those matchups to our advantage. Otherwise, this game could go either way. I was trying to think today if UA has EVER defeated K.E.N.T. on the road two years in a row. If I had to guess, I don't think so. Maybe another old timer can help me out with that?

It looks like the Zips are 2 point favorites.

i watched Can't a couple times in tv.there guys play hard, and they like run in transition for easy baskets.

zips need to come right from the start ready to play.if not we will be in trouble.i think we have more talent than Can't,but

It has happened numerous times. For example,

In the 29-30 season the Zips won 36-27,

in the 30-31 season the Zips won 28-25,

in the 31-32 season the Zips won 21-18, and

in the 32-33 season the Zips won 38-16.

Each of these games was played at K.S.U. with no games between the teams played in Akron those years.

Touché. Allow me to rephrase. Have the Zips ever won consecutive games at K.E.N.T. since UA went D1 in the early 80's?

Can't is really kind of a two man team right now with Evans and Holt. Those two along account for close to 50% of Can't's scoring. Outside of them only Kris Brewer scores more than 5 per game. I don't think we need to shut both of them down, but we need to at least limit one of them. I think the key matchup here is Harney against Evans. They are both pretty similar players in that they are both great athletes who have the size of a typical PF in this conference, but the athleticism and ball skills of a 2 guard. If Harney can equal or exceed Evans contributions I have a good feeling about this one.

The other big thing for Can't is they don't particularly share the ball well. As a team they average a measley 11 assist per game. Kris Brewer at 2.4 per game is their leading assist man. Nationally they are ranked 286th in assists per game. That being the case, I'm not sure I wouldn't go to a little zone at times tonight and make the Flashes have to move the basketball to score.

Beyond that, I think we need to establish Zeke and Pat F. early and often. They should both have a fairly decided advantage over Can't's two big guys who only run 6'9".
