bUAkronG
I chuckled to myself with Alex's line... “We’re very big in the gym,” point guard Alex Abreu said. “Except for me and coach D.” Love this team.
CincyZip
Stellar article by Withers, I had to give him a follow on twitter for it! @TwithersAP Although all the Cleveland tweets may get a little much . The story made its way to NBCSports.com as well, and several other locations (since it's AP). There is also a little story on the Zips on FoxNews.com tonight. http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2013/02/07/b...s-on-deep-ncaa/

gozips19
A little more love for the Zips and Zeke. On college gameday they had a starting 5 draft with Bilas, Rose, and Phelps. After each fished with their five thy were asked if there were other players they considerd. Bilas said he thought about Akron's Zeke Marshall but went with Cody Zeller. Bilas is really on the Zips bandwagon righ now! Love it.

Dave in Green
I wonder if Elton will still vote for the Zips after their two close wins over low-ranked opponents.

ZachTheZip
Does anyone here actually think that Akron is the 21st best team in the country? Just curious. The rankings are supposed to be about how teams are playing currently. So a team that won big early but has lost some games recently should not have a high ranking compared to a team that lost early but has won everything since then. We're red-hot right now. We're the first MAC team to start 10-0 in 30 years. Even the Elite-Eight Can't team and the Wally Szczerbiak Miami teams couldn't do that. akzipper
I don't think Seth Davis has ever seen Akron play. While I think we have a talented team, we are not playing like a top 25. We haven't played to our potential since MAC games started.

Hilltopper
Can't some of you guys just enjoy the moment? We are in the middle of a huge winning streak and all this hand wringing? Enjoy, you only live once!
ksu sucks
I don't think you've ever seen Akron play. Only when we're losing. He gets conspicuously silent otherwise.
phil
When I checked the MAC scores this weekend, only one away team won. It is difficult to win on the road after a long bus trip. We know that because in the past we have had some talented teams get upset on the road. We have a good team in a fair league. This weekend some nationally ranked teams lost on the road to less talented teams. Give our guys credit for hanging tough and winning. As long as this team keeps winning it deserves to be receive votes for the top 25. If we win the next 4 games I expect we could finally break into the top 25. One of the disadvantages of being in the MAC is that we are probably a one team NCAA bid conference. The upside is that with a very good team you can have the longest winning streak in the nation. We complain about the bad. Now it is time to enjoy the good!
akronzips71
To paraphrase the great John Madden: "Great players make great plays at great times". Our team never wavers from the game plan. In most cases, the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing in the hopes of a different outcome. In the case of this year's Zips, we just keep playing the same game even when down 20 points. So far, the insanity has worked. Just keep banging and the shots will drop. Dave in Green
Can anyone guess which forum member made the following statement in his very first post on ZN.o? Yes we are a MAC team, but we are better than the rest of the MAC. Our school is better, our fans are better, and we dominate most sports, and the others will come around. GP1
Can't some of you guys just enjoy the moment? We are in the middle of a huge winning streak and all this hand wringing? Enjoy, you only live once! Where is Crash Davis when you need him? The left out the last two sentences of the scene, but you guys get the picture. Nuke says, "Can't you let me enjoy the moment." Crash responds with, "The moments over." I hope KD had a talk with the players ten seconds after the win against Miami along these lines. Playing like crap and winning isn't always a good thing.
