I was checking out one of the Marshall forums.  This guy must have been a ZN.O member at one time.  He just does a better job now of getting all his complaints into one post.

"From game coordination of band, PA announcer, cheerleaders (simple answer), to tacky Harley, to minor league intermission stunts (money blowing around in box), to thug music, to very loud PA that assaults the ears, to insecurity about playing "Take me Home Country Roads" (which the opposing fans would be thrilled to hear), to tired band music, to the apparent dismissal of the thunder clap (which, if coordinated, would be effective), to failure to use south end zone as a "Club" for the cool alcohol crowd, to the failure to coordinate "lightning" on the video screen WHILE the drums beat while the fans scream THUNDER while the song Thunderstruck plays while the team enters (imagine the effect it would have!), to the dismissal of We Are Marshall at basketball games, to the inept 70's student recruiting model, to the failure to understand the politics of education, to the selection of another ho hum old white guy for President, to the BOG remaining parochial instead of national and/or international, to the failure to exploit for student recruiting the nationally recognized forensics program, to failure to place that cool tractor trailer in every state festival and parade in WV (and the State Fair) with cool forensic experiments for kids, to the failure to have a state outreach program (summer exercise in all counties) to the _____________ (fill in the blank).

Feelin' his pain.  He cares about Marshall as much as we care about UA.

Great video, they even got the president of the University in at the 55 second mark, Akron B Ball No. 1 fan.  However, my favorite is still the animated version where Zippy stomps or eats all the other MAC schools.  Would love to see them play that again during a game.

Someone with an understanding of who we compete against as an athletic entity, obviously.  That was a well orchestrated and appropriate video.

I remember having a friend with me once who is a Suckeye's Honk (went to school at Akron), and you should have seen his reaction when he looked up and saw Zippy clocking the Nut Head.

I have a great idea for a basketball promotion -

By my calculations 96% of all 2016-17 stuffed basketballs and tee shirts have landed in the lower seats.  Why not have all the cheerleaders walk up the stairs to the unwashed masses in the upper level, and toss them balls and tee shirts?

I could care less if I get a tee shirt...I have enough to last 15 lifetimes in my dresser drawers. But I see all the general admission kids jumping and screaming at the arena rails during the give-aways and don't understand why they get ignored, while granny blue hair gets lobbed her 23rd tee-shirt and 13th ball of the season?

On a positive note - Thank God they don't mention Tim Miller Insurance Agency after every three pointer this season.

For the record, I haven't gotten a t-shirt yet this season sitting in the heart of the lower level.  And I also have more than I can count, so I wouldn't complain.

But, my wife and I notice that they do tend to target the kids.  So, they should go up to the upper level and get them to the kids up there.  Those are the people that need to be nurtured into becoming future ticket holders and donors.  That would be a great goal to reach with a promotion.  Not stack the upper shelf of every diehard fans' closets with their 30th Akron t-shirt.

I never understood this neither. I caught one earlier this year in the bleachers and gave it to a kid that looked disappointed after not getting one.

I think that is a great idea and I have also noted that the cheerleaders make a concerted effort to give the ball and t shirts to kids close to the court.  It would be great if all the adults gave the the stuff to a kid sitting close by.  I have seen it numerous times from my seats.

Because that would mean someone in UA athletics would have to give a damn.  Akron suffers, has suffered, and will continue to suffer from the plague of having people who simply don't give a damn.

What I find great is the fact the Zips are marketing 9 MAC games for $60. I paid $60 for the entire season. At least the Zips ticket office is acknowledging that our home OOC games are worthless...

I like how they say $195 value!  Sure.  As if there were really people willing to pay $195 for general admission tickets.  I pay less than that for tickets to everything as an alumni.  But seriously, this is part of the problem at UA.  What unique thing is going on in advertising?  It's the same, lazy crap year-after-year-after-year.  No wonder people don't want to go.  What the hell are they doing?  Let's go with advertising schemes from the 1970s and 1980s!!

Yeah, part of the problem is that ticket prices are pretty much as low as they can get. If you're not willing to pay $60 for 14-15 home games, you're probably aren't going to pay $45-$50 for just the 9 MAC ones. What I will say is they should expand the 3 game pack they typically offer come February and offer it year round instead. Allow fans to pick any 3 games they want over the course  and price it at $30. It would pretty much be buy 2 get 1 free. It might entice Joe Akron, who normally only cares about the Kent game, to pay the extra $15 to get tickets to 2 more games of his choosing.

There are promotions for every single conference game this season. Lets see some ideas rather than constant complaining.

I have noticed the same.

I actually brought my nephew Tuesday that I mentioned in another thread I had a bet with on Bosa/Brown tackles to wear a jersey.  He actually brought money and was going to buy an Akron shirt and I told him to wait to see if he would catch one.  Ironically enough he was one of the few to catch a shirt that made it to the track.  Even after getting it he still wanted to buy one but I told him to hold off and I would get him one at the Walmart on Arlington for 1/3 of the cost of the team shop.  I may be successful in converting him over to a Zips fan!
