2016 MAC Tournament

As to the Women's quarterfinal games today. I went up to see the first two games. Apparently talking to people, Buffalo has had Ohio's number this year. Ohio was 16-2 in the MAC entering today, and both of those losses came to Buffalo. They couldn't fly up and down the court like they wanted to do in the past, their posts were matched up with even bigger post players from Buffalo. Buffalo had their PG, a wing, and a couple of their posts play VERY well today. This Buffalo team has only one senior, so they might be a team to look out for next season.

As for the Zips, everything went through Anita Brown in the first half. Then, as the 2nd half continued, Toledo started playing a "Man-and-1" on Anita Brown. That slowed her down and it took a while for anyone else to take the shots or feel comfortable taking the shots. They eventually were able to adjust to it and get Anita the ball and others able to attack the basket.  I would guess today they'll expect a little of that or a Box-and-1 from Buffalo with their height. I'm sure Coach Kest will be drilling in their heads today to not be afraid to take the shot.

I think having the extra day rest after going to overtime while Buffalo was already recovering from their game, I think it helps us tremendously. Buffalo has similar post players to Toledo, but their guards aren't as athletic or "a threat" as Toledo's were yesterday. However, that doesn't mean they don't have any threats at the guard position. Their sophomore Australian point guard and a wing player that can shoot and drive will have to be contain, but I see us matching well in the guards comparison. Our posts have to play better if we want to guarantee a win Friday afternoon.

That bracket couldn't have set up much better for the Zips in the rock-paper-scissors game of OU-Buffalo and Akron. The Zips couldn't beat Ohio this year but Ohio couldn't beat Buffalo (inexplicably now 0-3 against them) as the 8th seed, so Buffalo does us a favor and knocks them out. And how did the Zips do against Buffalo this year? 2-0 of course. Talk about matchups determining tournament results. Couldn't have played out any better for the Zips to have an excellent chance of reaching the final.

Watching this CMU-BGSU game and Bowling Green is really trying hard to keep in the game. Giving Central all they've got. I'd love to see them pull this one out.

Also, I really can't stand Fowler. Every single drive he uses his left arm for separation. Worried he will tear us apart tomorrow if they win.

CMU by one with about a minute left - BGSU just missed the front end of a one and one where they had an opportunity to take the lead.

Edit: Another missed free throw by BGSU that would have tied it.

And BGSU hits a late three combined with a defensive stop and knocks out CMU. Wow.

Wow!! I know we usually have BG's number but they are going to come in with a lot of confidence tomorrow. That Lillard kid has ice water in his veins.

We have to play better tomorrow than the last two games, that's for sure. Now let's see Miami and Northern get a couple wins tonight!!

Love It !!

BG will be playing their 3rd game this week.

I got my wish in this tourney.  I wanted to avoid Toledo and Central.  I didn't think it was possible, but it just happened.

You can't get more of a "gift" than getting to play a tired team, who you beat by 15 on the road and 35 at home.

Times must be tough at Miami of Ohio.  The sweaters didn't bring a band or cheerleaders or my eyes deceive me.

I'm sure they weren't necessarily planning to be there. I was actually thinking about that with BG's band because they did not at all seem like a college-caliber band. Made me think they must have had some replacements or something.

How do you get tickets to the Women's game tomorrow?  I can't find anything anywhere on line.

I know it's all first come - first serve seating.  I just want to find out how to get the tickets, and how much they cost.

Arcade entrance next to Cavs team shop will have a booth for each school(CMU, EMU, UB, Akron). You can get GA tickets for $10.

Thanks for the help guys.  Yes, I know about the school tables. That's where I pick up our men's tickets, but I had no clue how it's handled for the women's games, and thought it was odd that it was so difficult to find MAC women's ticket information online.

GoZips.com -> Tickets - > MAC tournament ticket information and order form tells you everything you need to know.

I wasn't going to initially make the trip up to Cleveland this weekend because money is a little tight for me at the moment, but seeing the women up 5 at the half and the men facing the #12 seed if both teams can take care of business today the chances of winning 2 MAC titles within hours of one another might be too much for me to pass up.
