Game 6—Miami (OH) Redhawks

The other major point he made is how well Gilbert is developing and that he is as fast if not faster than brown and that he needs the experience to increase his football smarts.

I like what I have seen from Gilbert and if he works as hard as JB1 did, we will have another NFL quality LB'S on the team in 2 years. JB1's work ethic, especially with studying film has been refererenced a lot this season in the San Diego nedia. The fact that he called the plays on D on Sunday is probably directly related to his study. I hope Gilbert learned those study habits from Brown.

Question for the ESPN3'ers as maybe someone has experience i dont. I have a family commitment on Saturday and won't be able to start watching the game until 6 ish. Rather than start at wherever the game is live, is it possible to start from the beginning?!

Great, now everybody will want my hat....

Looks really sharp though, wonder if we go blue jerseys and gold pants?  Do we have gold pants in this year's unis?

I think they only have blue and white pants.

Too bad they can't wear these again:

Although I understand it's pointless to buy throwback uniforms only to be worn for one game.

You know a lot of people don't love the Z only logo - wonder if it would be possible to make something with a similar A and the current Z aligned with the top of the Z going across the center of the A. Then we could say The University of Akron - we have everything covered from A to Z. :)

Hustle Belt Preview

Quote

With Tommy Woodson likely out, Tra’Von Chapman will man the quarterback position after a lackluster performance at Kent State, where he completed 39% of his passes for 237 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a pair of sacks.

Is Tommy truly, likely out? This is the first place I have seen this and the writer appears to be a Redhawks fan, so I wonder where he is or is not getting his information from about Woodson?

Yes, the stats about TC5 are accurate, but a perfect case of stats not telling the whole story. Most of us would like to believe that the TC5 of the first half will not return, ever, again, in a Zips uniform.

Those are some of my favorite uni's they've ever worn.  I believe that was the negative 80-degree Thanksgiving Day K.e.nt game when we won the MAC East, right?

And, know what?  ^^They only wore those uni's once.  Lol.

Statistics, statistics.  TC5's 1st and 2nd halves were entirely different.  Hopefully we witnessed a QB grow up right before our eyes.

TC5's QB ratings:

1st Half = 30.71

2nd Half = 208.63

Next Year?  The 30 Year Anniversary of our move to D-1A ??  It's a thought.

Actually, maybe these celebrations of anniversaries is a good idea, and should happen more often, simply to educate our students and younger fans of our history.  Heck, people who are students at Akron right now likely don't even know that we won a MAC title in 2005.  We should be educating and reminding them of all of our sports accomplishments from the past.  I think it helps them connect with our athletic programs.  That's why we should have placed that Heisman Statue in a place where our students walk every day.

I agree with this.  There's almost no where a student can go to learn about any of this.  Get student orgs on board too (cough, the Buchtelite, ZTV) so you can do pre-game interviews/history pieces and things like that.

It really seems like Bowden and co. along with the athletic department is now trying to build a culture.  Heisman Statue, Charlie Frye honoring, throwbacks...keep doing things like this, and KEEP WINNING, we might end up with something really nice down the road.
