zipsrule Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 The NIU basket to end the half was a defensive disaster. Quote
wadszip Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 Technically, I guess they are still in this, but NIU is going to at least get 35 points in the second half. Meaning if the Zips put up 50, they "could" come back. Quote
zipfan84 Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 So far I see a total lack of effort on D and way too many turnovers. It is possible to turn this around but the boys seem to have no heart tonight. Hopefully they will prove me wrong. Quote

NWAkron Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 As is tradition, about this time in the season the other MAC teams start learning how to play us. There was going to be a loss somewhere a long the line here. If and that's IF it's tonight, it was predictable and doesn't doom our season. Quote
1981 grad Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 This game is still winnable. They are shooting 75% from 3 land. That will not continue. We are getting killed on the boards. No reason for that. I am curious to see who will step forward. Looking for a big 2nd half from somebody. My guess is Antino, Big Dog or Kwan. Go Zips! 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 We got out rebounded 19-10 in the 1st half. If that doesn't change in the 2nd half I don't care how hot we get in 2nd half, we won't win. If our defense can't get stops, we need to create turnovers. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 In one half at least, I feel like I am seeing the best Center in the MAC, by a long shot. And he's not wearing an Akron uniform. Please change my mind Zips. 1 Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 The NIU fan is going crazy. Quote

The problem is that we always believe that nobody will continue to shoot as well as they do against this defense. While 75 percent from three on that many attempts won't happen, it doesn't need to happen. Bottom line, it seems like every game, it's "well, we got their best shooting day." At what point does that not become a surprise? 1 Quote
Blue & Gold Posted February 1, 2017 Author Report Posted February 1, 2017 That has to be the worst looking basketball court in America. 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 We have the best starting 4/5 combo in the MAC yet our bench bigs are stiffs. Need to get Hughes healthy and hope he can contribute. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 This is the worst Zips team defensively I've seen. Quote

Oregon's "tree court" is so shady that it confuses the viewer and makes it hard to see or follow the ball. Quote
NWAkron Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 If we can do like WMU did tonight and just keep chipping at the lead and get this down to 5 or 6, we can do this. Quote

Keith acknowledges that it's his worst, or one of his worst. As I said earlier, you can't "teach" defensive effort. And what I have been seeing is just lack of focus and effort. Quote
kreed5120 Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 We are forcing turnovers. Just need to hits shots. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 52-45! Guess what? We're coming back! Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 Kwan and Antino are going to have to win this for us. Quote
LZIp Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 lets get foul #3 on Maric. Get him out of the game. Quote
NWAkron Posted February 1, 2017 Report Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) Considering our history with NIU, the complete comeback doesn't seem probable, but if they have to get it down to a two possession game. Edited February 1, 2017 by NWAkron Quote
