We've gotten blown out of our 3 road games.

I think it's probably way too early to conclude that we're just bad away from home.  It's the level of competition.  Take a look at how bad the seasons are turning out so far for most all of the teams we've played at home.

Gee, I wonder what happened to all those great out-of-bounds plays, those timely timeout calls, or that player movement without the ball?  What I see is the same reliance on 3 point shooting and being out-manned by a power 5 team, and K.Ds teams didn't usually fold like that in the second half. As I stated in earlier posts, I support Groce, he was a good hire thrust into a tough situation, so enjoy the season without constantly bashing Dambrot?

Disappointing 2nd half, obviously.

Until we crack the code on zone defenses, I think we can expect to see much more of them going forward.

More movement on offense, especially without the ball, might be a good place to start.

Anyone know game time and TV for today's game?

This team being a young team has played decent in the first half against Dayton, Marshall, and USC only to lose it in the second half.  Being a young team they do not have the mental toughness against good teams in the second half.  They can play poorly against Miss. State and still win.  They play like that against USC they will lose by 30.

That zone was tough, especially for a young and inexperienced team.  When we did penetrate the zone we hesitated and could not finish.  We had 16 turnovers.   Kostelac had a open dunk.  He held the ball, hesitated, was surrounded and then walked.  He did not see the floor again.

We then relied on our 3 point shooting.  In the first half we were around 40%.  We ended up shooting 25%.

I did not think our intensity against Miss. State was very good in the 2nd half and it carried over against USC.  I do not see the value of playing weak teams before good matchups.  I know it was finals week but that game was a bad tuneup against a better team.

Hopefully will play better tonight.  Go Zips!

We've been lulled into a false sense of security by how the Zips have played at home against suspect competition.  Predictably, the Zips were beaten by a P5 team ranked by many on the top 10 in the pre-season.  I'm certainly not happy with the way the second half looked, but despite that ugliness, I am pleased with where the Zips are as a team given where they were when KD left and some vital pieces followed him out the door.  We can't forget this is a year of transition.
