2018 Preseason

I found this information from the NCSA website. I'm not sure if this is still the way it works for eligibility at the DII and DIII levels but it would have to be something along these lines:

Quote

In Division I, your “clock starts ticking” the first time you practice with an athletic team at any college. Unless you are redshirted or meet certain medical criteria, you have five years until that clock runs down. Once it does, your Division I eligibility expires.

...
Divisions II and III are a little different; you’re allowed 10 semesters of full-time enrollment to use up your four seasons of eligibility. The semesters don’t have to be consecutive.

...

But, if you use up your four seasons of competition, you can’t play any more, regardless of how many of the 10 semesters of eligibility you have left.

The NAIA rules are basically the same as Division II and III – you have 10 (not necessarily consecutive) semesters in which to use your eligibility.

And from the NCAA website:

Quote

8. How long you can actually participate in collegiate athletics?

Each Division II student-athlete has 10 semesters or 15 quarters of full-time collegiate enrollment in order to participate as a student-athlete. Within these 10 semesters or 15 quarters, a student-athlete has four years of athletics eligibility (seasons of competition) in which he or she can participate against outside competition.

That article did bring up a good point. It probably really is a 4 team race for the MAC East this year with Ohio, Akron, Miami, and Buffalo all expecting to compete. Should be some fun football....Also NIU's nonconference probably has us beat. Sheesh.

Any early enrollees? Pretty pumped to get some of the guys on campus and see how they fare over the summer. TB did his best recruiting yet

Eric Bentley, Reggier Corner, Rich Hall, and Keyondre White are early enrollees. Brandon Bischof too I guess, though I assume he is a walk on. Bryce Peterson is here as well. Of course we could debate what exactly an early enrollee is, but those are the new players for this class already on campus and practicing.

If you could please pay attention to the team prayer, and let us know who leads it, is it voluntary, etc. I think we're all interested in that information. (I'm kidding; just having some fun)

Looking forward to hearing what you see. Unfortunately, I will be busy putting up backsplash in my kitchen and won't be able to attend.

Sister Jean has brought new significance to team prayers!

I'm going to try to make the scrimmage this Saturday.

Going to TRY?? Doesn't sound like you're fully committed. :D

I'll be there.

I'll provide a semi-detailed report on what goes down although the caveat remains that I'll be focused primarily on the offense.

CDMac  did you call or email you were coming to the practice?  Or do you just show up?

I just showed up. The tweet announcing the practices was geared toward recruits in that the email and phone were for the recruiting office so I assumed they wanted to know which kids were coming so they could be sure to make that connection with them and their families. I don’t have any eligibility left so I just showed up.
