clarkwgriswold Posted February 15, 2020 Report Posted February 15, 2020 The Zips head to Kalamazoo Tuesday to face “Crash” Hawkins’ 11-14 Broncos. They are coming off of losses to the Kittens and the EMUs. West Division Preseason All-MAC Team 6’1” junior guard Michael Flowers continues to lead the Broncos in scoring at 17 ppg. 6’8” junior forward Brandon Johnson is a force inside, averaging 15 ppg and 8 rpg. The Zips beat beat the Broncos 84-79 at the JAR on January 7th led by LCJ’s 26. As I recall, WMU came back a little in the second half but then LCJ hit three straight 3s as the Zips pulled away. The Zips will be looking for their 7th road win! Quote
NWAkron Posted February 16, 2020 Report Posted February 16, 2020 I will put this info here since there won't be too many posts leading up to this game. Akron is the best FT shooting team in the MAC. In conference play Akron is 81.2%. I looked at the three losses and found this interesting stat: Toledo: average 75% hit 89% (10 point loss) Buffalo: average 68% hit 87% (3 point loss) Ravenna: average 71% hit 80% (1 point loss) in that game Akron was 12-14 and Ravenna was 12-15. LoyalZIP Posted February 16, 2020 Report Posted February 16, 2020 Trap game. I know those can't really exist in the MAC considering how chaotic it is every night, but two big wins in a row and the second long road trip in a few days. Quote

We would have lost to EMU had EMU shot their season average. 1 Quote
NWAkron Posted February 17, 2020 Report Posted February 17, 2020 No where else to put this: LCJ is now the conference leader with 22.8 points per game. However, according to the MAC he's only played 10 conference games. WTF? Quote

akronzips71 Posted February 17, 2020 Report Posted February 17, 2020 A 5'8" 150 pound player can not be the Conference leader. Fake news LOL Quote
Blue & Gold Posted February 17, 2020 Report Posted February 17, 2020 The final draft of this story will be in tomorrow's paper. This draft still has a lot of awkwardly-worded sentences. Quote
NWAkron Posted February 17, 2020 Report Posted February 17, 2020 How about just "Zips want to ease in down the road" and take out the rest 1 Quote
kreed5120 Posted February 18, 2020 Report Posted February 18, 2020 For my fellow degenerates out there I see Akron opened up at 8.5 point favorites. I'm going to say Akron wins but doesn't cover. I'm going the over on 141.5. Quote
clarkwgriswold Posted February 18, 2020 Author Report Posted February 18, 2020 Channel gets to man up on the opposing team's best player again. Flowers doesn't look like a player but he can get buckets. Zips 78-65. Quote
AkronAlumnus Posted February 18, 2020 Report Posted February 18, 2020 Should be an ass-whooping. We're the better team and if they can stop #12 it should be smooth sailing. I watched Akron play WMU at the JAR. I thought Akron played a sub-par game, however, they still walked away with a win and the team is much improved from early January. Quote

clarkwgriswold Posted February 19, 2020 Author Report Posted February 19, 2020 Ugly game but I love how the Zips get on the floor for loose balls. Quote
