Go get em. 🤣  And people think Toledo and Ohio are coveted commodities. How embarrassing for Memphis. They won 11 games last year. Let me be the first to welcome them to the new G5 division.  I will say, it's been nice to have an off season without all of the conference jumping. That part of college football may have run it's course. Quote

72 Roo Posted July 22 Report Posted July 22 The logical next move is for Memphis to leave the AAC for the MAC. Remember you heard it here first. They have been dying to get on UMASS's schedule. The Sunbelt has nothing on the MAC. Quote

If the G5s position themselves right, they'll be able to add some outstanding institutions. 3 Quote

It would be a smart for the Big 10 and SEC to have their own football conference. I don't know how many schools they have between them, but the number has to be around the same as the NFL. It's become pretty obvious that the Big 22 and ACC cannot keep up with them. Quote

Section210Zip Posted Wednesday at 03:10 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:10 PM Who ever did that list must of over looked the MAC. Both Kent and Eastern should have made it with 608 and 630. There are probably others but i knew those two have been historically bad. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted Wednesday at 03:58 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:58 PM Interesting list. A lot of those teams have turned things around to say the least. Â Quote

There already is a decent #FreeAkron campaign based on the precedent, too. If Akron is successful this year and ends up being bowl eligible or even in contention for the MAC Championship Game, look out. It'll be similar to the JMU postseason campaign from a couple years ago. 1 Quote

zvillezip Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Lt.Gov. Tressel should be pushing for the NCAA to #FreeAkron. Would also help if Senators Moreno and Husted got involved and VP Vance. 2 Quote

I don't think fighting the post season ban is a fight worth having. Akron didn't live up to Akron's obligations as a member of the NCAA. Akron is getting punished for Akron's actions. Accepting punishment for wrongdoing is the adult thing to do. Another adult thing to do would be to learn from this lesson and get better, not call a lawyer.  We're four months away from bowl season. The best we could hope for is to get a temporary injunction until the case could go to trial in 2026. Do you have any idea how full Federal Court dockets are? How long do you want this drama to go on until we ultimately lose a case? What if Akron loses the case and next year at this time we are having the same conversation? How is anyone being helped carrying on with this case?  Adult conversation over.... Meetings over.   Edited 3 hours ago by GP1 Quote

I just want to add that going to court would ultimately just lead to the ABJ publishing several stories on it, which just gives the school and program a bad look.  Ultimately it's unlikely the Zips will win 6 games to make bowl eligibility anyway. We've already taken the brunt of the bad PR. No need to make it resurface when odds are we aren't going to a bowl regardless. Quote
