Do they not think a better connection with Akron football could have been facilitated by putting the kids in the Akron endzone and the kids interacting with Akron players? That would be cool if the Akron players could have found the end zone 4 1 Quote

The sleaze dripping off the guy was noticable to the point I think the interviewers picked up on it. He did some bragging about the TV ratings for the Texas game. 16.6 million people watched the game. I wonder if the NFL owners noticed and are licking their chops for those viewers. NFL games draw between 17 and roughly 30 million per game. If I was the NFL, I would start with driving college football out of the Saturday prime time games and then work my way earlier into the day. I'd bankrupt college football with a better product that people have more of an appetite for. Why would you do that to your free minor league? 2 1 Quote
dre22era Posted Thursday at 02:58 PM Report Posted Thursday at 02:58 PM College Football-------------->NFL The Big Ten's current TV deal is a seven-year, approximately $7 billion agreement with Fox, CBS, and NBC that began in the 2023 season. Ohio State makes $12 - $15 million a home game. So the OSU AD can definitely talk that talk. Quote

You and GP1 both have valid points here. I think the scales begin to tip when the "minor" league's revenue is on par with the major league, which it is becoming due to consolidation and concentration of the big name schools/programs. At the very least, NFL owners have taken notice. Quote

Otherwise they would have already done it. You are almost 💯 correct. They could play on those Saturdays, but they would forego their anti-trust exemption. I guess the question then becomes, would that matter? The NFL is the #1 TV show in the USA. Drunks and degenerate gamblers can't get enough. Quote
GP1 Posted yesterday at 06:05 PM Author Report Posted yesterday at 06:05 PM The NC State vs Virginia game is really good. Two ACC school playing a non conference game. I love the idea. Are the athletes students alumni fans and general community getting more out of this game or NCSU vs Joe Blow G5 school? Quote

The Virginia stadium is sitting empty today whereas both stadiums could be relatively full. Ticket revenue lost. You're not thinking like a patriotic capitalist. UAZipster0305 Posted yesterday at 08:57 PM Report Posted yesterday at 08:57 PM Great home game and crowd for a Saturday afternoon in Athens for the Bobcats against WVU, and it is a competitive game. Wish we had such things! 2 Quote

Spin Posted yesterday at 11:11 PM Report Posted yesterday at 11:11 PM Sitting here watching the Worthless Nuts run up 70 on Grambling State and Nine different players crossing the goal line. Let’s see if we can hold them to, maybe, 60? Grab a pick six? who cares, it’s payday. Right? 1 Quote

It makes OSU fans feel good though, and to that end, it doesn't matter if if the competition off the field before the game even started was unequal. I find it to be insanely pointless and boring, but there will never be a shortage of people wanting to buy 100k+ tickets to watch a gridiron sacrifice. It's just good business, nothing more. The real game of equals was last night, and OSU lost 2-0. 1 1 Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted yesterday at 11:25 PM Report Posted yesterday at 11:25 PM (edited) Ohio beats WVU 17-10 in front of a sold out crowd in Athens. It really makes me wonder if we had hired Frank Solich then the fates of our program and Ohio's would be reversed. Edited 23 hours ago by UAZipster0305 1 1 Quote
