I saw that. In fact I believe he was a walk-on TRUE freshman.   WTF?!

Ruel Thompson, a left handed kid from Ginn Academy.  He was the QB on the Glenville state championship team last year.  He's a real athlete.  He accounted for 4 TD's in the first half of the championship against Alter, running for 2 and throwing for 2.  He sat at Walsh for 3 years before going to Glenville/Ginn Academy.

Kent is an absolute mess. I’ve listened to many of Burns’ pressers and find it fascinating how he continues to change course of action. Now it’s play the young players and focus on 80/20 HS to portal recruiting. That won’t work in any turnaround situation due to the portal and NIL. The better players will jet and it’ll be a cycle of incoming freshmen to fill the void.

That's fine

I see nothing wrong with this for them. It sounds economical. They should stay on the path their on.

With Bowling Green beating Ball State it put the Zips into a tie for eighth. Progress 😊 it also means the winner of Bowling Green-Miami will make the title game. Ohio will also make it with a win over Ball State. If they lose and Buffalo beats Kent (a virtual certainty), there will be a three-way tie between the loser of Bowling Green-Miami, Ohio and Buffalo. Since they did not all play each other, it will come down to records against common opponents and I am too lazy to figure that out right now.

A little off topic but didn't want to start a new thread for this...

Isn't UMass supposed to begin MAC play next season?  Right now FBS Schedules dot com has them with 5 games - 8/30 vs. Temple

9/6 at Boston College

9/13 at Iowa

10/18 at Mizzou

11/29 at UConn

I don’t think the MAC has factored in UMASS into anyone schedules. They might have reshuffle the mac games and cancel/push back a OOC game. It happened a bunch last year when the PAC collapsed

He was going to PCCC.  How good could he be.  JUCO here I come.

Another gem here-

https://athlonsports.com/college/kent-state-golden-flashes/kent-state-roasted-winless-season-buffalo

He had 23 offers including Akron, Army, Buffalo, Maryland, James Madison, Liberty, Temple, and UNLV.

I'd be high on getting this kid. He's clearly not afraid to learn from his mistakes.

Can't argue with that!  Not sure how with that list you can pick Brimfield.

Miami v Ohio for the MAC Championship.

Should be a good game. Ohio is playing much better football since their last meeting. Gotta hand it to the Ohio staff, they had a huge amount of turnover and still managed to make it to the MACC.

It also helps when you can get 5 wins by playing the bottom 5 teams in the conference (based on the current standings).

In contrast the Zips got only two of the bottom five (of course we couldn't play ourselves). Combined current conference record of the other teams (6 of the top 7) we played is 30-16.

PCCC's board is a blast to read right now.

  • 0-12 parade talk
  • Fans screwing up math in real time (typical for them)
  • Worried about future schedules as their future schedules are wildly empty
    • They only have games scheduled in 2025 (3), 2026 (2), and 2028 (1)
    • For comparison, Akron has games scheduled in 2025 (4), 2026 (4), 2027 (3), 2028 (2), 2029 (1), 2030 (1), 2032 (1), 2033 (1)
  • Reality setting in that Akron is actually getting better at football
