Is it me or if our football team could win, we'd kinda dominate the MAC in just about everything? Baseball too but we can't be perfect

Isn't it amazing how much weight football carries?

I used to work near Alliance. There's a school district called Marlington out there who was good in every sport - boys & girls soccer, volleyball, boys & girls basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball... but they're almost always bad in football... and the incredible gravity of football makes all the kids from Marlington think they go to a loser school.

Football is certainly king.

Men’s wise yes. Women’s can still use some work but it seems soccer and volleyball are on the rise

It's surprising how consistently bad women's basketball has been. They have access to the same training facility and analytical tools men's basketball has. I know they don't have the same NIL that the men's program has, but none of the MAC women's programs are spending big dollars on NIL.

What's wild is that not even 10 years ago, Marlington was even on a run where they were over .500 every year.  I think 2015-2019 they were over .500 every year with a few playoff bids in those years.  But, not a lot of playoff success, so it still feels like "not very good."

None of the schools they compete with seem to have very strong football programs. It says a lot that instead of trying to elevate their level to compete with Louisville, they decided to form an entirely new league just to avoid playing them. Louisville is a solid program, but it’s not like they’re Massillon or Hoban. Feels like a loser mentality.

Absolutely. In fact in 2010 they were amazing & made it to the state semifinals. I believe they had 3 seniors go D-1 off that team.

That was pretty shocking. I guess the schools in the NBC (Northeastern Buckeye Conference) weren't allowed to simply vote Louisville out, so every other member school simultaneously exited the conference and then formed a brand new conference sans Louisville; The Eastern Buckeye Conference. 😂😭

And to the surprise of no one, as soon as a couple teams weren't as competitive as they magically thought they would be sans Louisville, the EBC will be itself dead in a couple years.
