2025 Portal Departures

Not excited to see Moore, James, Kellom or Smith in the Portal, however I'm not surprised at all. I'm still hoping we can somehow keep Norton and McCoy, but I'm worried about them. I guess the way I look at the current state of college football is that it's just a constant revolving door. Any good or great players from G5 will enter thinking they are better than where they are currently and the P4/5 players not getting the playing time they think they deserve will enter hoping for more playing time, respect, whatever from another P4/5 or a G5.

So basically an athlete can hit the portal a million times.  No restrictions? I don't see how this is sustainable for the G5, rebuilding from scratch every season? Hats off to Ohio Bobcats and Miami who seem to be able to navigate this reality, but if you're trying to pull out of a dive like Akron is, it seems pretty grim. Not as grim as Kent but still deflating.

Until just recently, I think that we all thought Nunnally was out of eligibility and would be gone anyway, so I'm not too upset about it. Having him back would have been great though.

That sucks. One thing I'll offer though is that we beat Toledo without him recording a single catch.

Yep. He’ll get paid for sure. Good luck to him. He’s a kid that was unrated by the recruiting services and probably shouldn’t have ended up here in the first place.

Agreed. Obviously I’d prefer he stayed, but Granger and Polk ran with their opportunities. They’ll only get better. Mason and P. Davis will have their chance to step to the forefront as well.

We should get Myles Walker back as well (who earned the #1 jersey in summer workouts this year). And then there's the potential of Alex Adams, but can't count on him being available based on the past 2 years..

In what world does a player with a checkered background, and also injury prone, go into the portal from a program that until this season was in the bottom ten of FBS. Good luck with a half scholarship in DII Laurance. This does not hurt us.

I hope the best for him however where in the Country where he be be the 1st string Receiver? Classic #2 maybe, but a #1?
