Interesting...I wonder if there just weren't many minutes there for him with Tavari, Sharron, Shammah, and Bowen all playing ahead of him. 3 of the 4 will be gone next year, though. Quote

HoopsFan03 Posted Tuesday at 09:24 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:24 PM My thoughts in the game. 1. The returning starters. Lyles, TJ and Scott all played great. 2. Young needs more minutes. He is a star. 3. The Mahaffey brothers looked solid. 4. Stankovic had some flashes of greatness. I think he gains playing time as the season goes on. 5. Hardman struggled 6. I love Marvin style of play and hustle but if he is our back up big, that's going to be a big problem. 7. Where are the big guys? Halligan got in before them? 2 Quote

In the post game interview Groce said in a round about way that MMK is outperforming them in practice. He plans to play them, especially against bigger teams, but they need to earn their minutes in practice. Quote

Right, where is the viable back up big? 1 Quote

Usually those lead to a bunch of popups and not an actual game broadcast. Wasn't going to risk it and just spent the $13 for ESPN+ Quote
Illini Zip Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Rewatching this game I have to say Evan is a really good piece for us. It might not always show on the stat sheet, but he hustles on defense. Makes good passes. And does the intangibles. Because he has a physical stature similar to Lyles I was crediting the wrong guy at times. He did miss a wide open three, but I like that he didn’t hesitate in taking it. The form looks good too. He's a career 20% three point shooter so I don't have high expectations for that aspect of his game but he contributes in so many other ways that I think he's going to be an integral part of the Zips' success this season. On top of it all, he's just a nice personable kid, as is Eric. As an aside, the other OSU transfer the Zips were rumored to be pursuing, Austin Parks, had 5 points and 3 rebounds in 18 minutes in Toledo's opening loss to South Alabama. We got the right Buckeye.
