Let'sGoZips94 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago (edited) Miami OH just traveled up 2 with 20 seconds to go but the refs didn't call it. Unbelievable. Edited 15 hours ago by Let'sGoZips94 Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Toledo just had the ball down 2 with 10 seconds left and Kowalchoke didn't call a timeout. Instead, their PG dribbled the air out of the ball and turned it over with .1 seconds left. Quote
MDZip Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago I want Miami to finish undefeated now. When there was still a chance for the Zips to get the first seed, I was hoping for two losses. Now that there is no chance I want them to finish undefeated so that MAC Championship will be that much sweeter. 1 1 Quote

It will be that much sweeter when we beat them, and then they have to go on the road to play in the NIT. 😁😆 Edited 14 hours ago by UAZipster0305 1 Quote

The only hope for that is a loss to Ohio on Friday. Otherwise, at worst, they'll be in Dayton which, in fairness to college basketball, is where they belong no matter what. Quote
MDZip Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago So odds are very high that in their last season in the MAC, NIU is going to finish last in basketball and only didn't finish last in football due to the grace of UMass. 1 Quote

If they lose to us by more than one possession in the MACC, I think they are on the road in the NIT. Money talks, and a P5 team will be put in ahead of them. I think there is a 1 in 3 chance Cryami doesn't even make the MACC. Edited 14 hours ago by UAZipster0305 Quote

It would set a horrendous precedent. However, rewarding a weak schedule is equally disturbing, so the happy medium is to send them to Dayton as a "prove yourself" deal vs the middling P6s. A close loss to Akron and they may escape Dayton as a legitimate at large. However, a double digit loss, and their fans can quickly start buying tickets for Dayton. I also believe they may not make it to Saturday but we will see. 1 Quote

Let'sGoZips94 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Toledo shot 2 free throws in their game vs Miami OH. The Redhawks shot 14. Quote

That's not as many as you would expect for Miami. I have it on good authority that Toledo fouls every time down the court. 1 2 Quote
zippy5 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago It's a weak schedule but it's not like they're playing in the NEC. An undefeated MAC team should be in with no doubt about it imo. 1 Quote

If you're going to money grab, use those games as a "prove it" round for teams that otherwise haven't had the opportunity to do so. Edited 2 hours ago by Let'sGoZips94 1 Quote

Watch it happen. Miami is likely the third best team in SW Ohio, I mean come on! They are only beating most MAC teams by a handful of points, and if they had to come to Akron, they'd have their one loss already. Edited 2 hours ago by UAZipster0305 Quote
MDZip Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago CBS Sports is really kissing the Miami ass now. They have a video explaining how last season's title loss has motivated them for this year. Except that they called Akron a bid stealer last year for beating Miami when Akron was the number one seed. CBS sports, you can kiss my ass now. kreed5120 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Akron definitely can play at a higher ceiling. Miami is still very good. Probably the best MAC team we faced in the tournament since the Oats UB team. If we bring our B game and they play their A game they can and likely win. If we match their level of play we should come out on top IMO. Quote

Two of the 3 selected the Zips. Here is the article and here is the part on the MAC. Mid-American Conference Saturday, March 14, 8 p.m., ESPN2 Borzello: Akron Lunardi: Akron Medcalf: Miami (Ohio) Why Akron will win: It feels morally wrong to pick against Miami becoming just the fourth team since 1991 to enter the NCAA tournament with an unbeaten record, but Akron took the RedHawks to the wire on the road on Jan. 3 and hasn't lost a league game since. Zips coach John Groce has won three of the past four MAC tournaments, and Tavari Johnson is a star in the backcourt. -- Borzello Why Miami will win: The only undefeated team in America just keeps winning. There are debates in the bracketology world about what the RedHawks would have to do to get into the field of 68 if they suffer a loss in the MAC tournament. Yet, they've won conference games by a landslide as well as games by a hair, making them equipped for whatever predicament they'll face in Cleveland. -- Medcalf My take: Yeah they've won some games by a lot in conference. Have you seen the bottom of our conference? 1 Quote
