Toledo just had the ball down 2 with 10 seconds left and Kowalchoke didn't call a timeout. Instead, their PG dribbled the air out of the ball and turned it over with .1 seconds left.

I want Miami to finish undefeated now. When there was still a chance for the Zips to get the first seed, I was hoping for two losses. Now that there is no chance I want them to finish undefeated so that MAC Championship will be that much sweeter.

Yes, agreed. It will be that much sweeter when we beat them, and then they have to go on the road to play in the NIT. 😁😆

They won't end up in the NIT if they finish the regular season undefeated. The only hope for that is a loss to Ohio on Friday. Otherwise, at worst, they'll be in Dayton which, in fairness to college basketball, is where they belong no matter what.

So odds are very high that in their last season in the MAC, NIU is going to finish last in basketball and only didn't finish last in football due to the grace of UMass.

I strongly disagree. If they lose to us by more than one possession in the MACC, I think they are on the road in the NIT. Money talks, and a P5 team will be put in ahead of them.

 

I think there is a 1 in 3 chance Cryami doesn't even make the MACC.

Regardless of strength of schedule, no team that goes undefeated in the regular season can miss March Madness. It would set a horrendous precedent. However, rewarding a weak schedule is equally disturbing, so the happy medium is to send them to Dayton as a "prove yourself" deal vs the middling P6s. A close loss to Akron and they may escape Dayton as a legitimate at large. However, a double digit loss, and their fans can quickly start buying tickets for Dayton. 

 

I also believe they may not make it to Saturday but we will see.

That's not as many as you would expect for Miami.  I have it on good authority that Toledo fouls every time down the court.

It's a weak schedule but it's not like they're playing in the NEC. An undefeated MAC team should be in with no doubt about it imo.

I understand, and I'm saying they would still be in. The committee can't set that precedent. To me, Miami OH is exactly who the Dayton games should be for. If you're going to money grab, use those games as a "prove it" round for teams that otherwise haven't had the opportunity to do so.

Miami is likely the third best team in SW Ohio, I mean come on! They are only beating most MAC teams by a handful of points, and if they had to come to Akron, they'd have their one loss already.

CBS Sports is really kissing the Miami ass now. They have a video explaining how last season's title loss has motivated them for this year. Except that they called Akron a bid stealer last year for beating Miami when Akron was the number one seed. CBS sports, you can kiss my ass now.

And the Zips will do it again.  Bottom line:  Akron won last time and inflicted pain on Travis and Miami.  Was a long time coming.  I think the video is great.

Akron definitely can play at a higher ceiling. Miami is still very good. Probably the best MAC team we faced in the tournament since the Oats UB team. If we bring our B game and they play their A game they can and likely win. If we match their level of play we should come out on top IMO.

My take: Yeah they've won some games by a lot in conference. Have you seen the bottom of our conference?
