He provides a lot of money for UA scholarships through the I Promise LJ Family Foundation (https://www.lebronjamesfamilyfoundation.org/i-promise-institute/#university-of-akron

But I know you're talking about sports and I agree it would be nice if said billionaire could make a life-changing contribution to the athletic dept.

I'm a big LeBron fan but I'll admit he is kinda... eccentric. (He was world famous as a teenager so it's understandable).  When KD left for Duquesne LeBron wrote a letter to UA endorsing his former high school coach Dru Joyce Sr. for the job. When Dru was passed over he felt disrespected & I think that's when LBJ put some emotional distance between himself & UA. Hopefully he gets over it. I'm crossing my fingers he moves back to Akron (at least part time) after he retires & gets involved in the community like his high school friends Romeo Travis, Sian Cotton, & Willie McGee have done. Those guys could be living in condos on a beach somewhere but they're all involved in various aspects of STVM/iPromise enterprises. (So are Josh & John Williams, btw.)

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah. The poor iPromise kids largely come from... suboptimal... home environments so though they've been given every publicly-funded academic advantage known to man they still have failing academic progress ratings.  LeBron also built very nice, new condos for the families on the corner of Maple & Exchange but the families aren't taking care of them, as there are already holes in the walls & often-broken windows as well as homeless sneaking in to sleep (& defecate) in the hallways 🤦‍♂️. A young lady was just shot & killed in there a week ago 😕

Let us know what you guys think of it when recveived.

Also let us know what color it is since the picture is blue and the color option says Black. I'm sure it's probably blue but you never know.

I saw that. Can't tell from the photos if it's the same as the vest. It is certainly dark blue if it's not black. I'll let you know once it arrives.

How long did it take for you to receive the vest?

I don't recall exactly. It wasn't very long, although I don't know if next week is in play. As @HoopsFan03 said, Wentz Financial will have more answers. I half wonder if it would be possible to arrange pickup in Cleveland.

If anybody needs a ticket tonight, let me know. I have 1 GA available. We have a church event so I'll be following along on my phone.

It's faith night, bring them to the game

Fast shipping.

Call Wentz financial if you have any questions.

I will be ordering some today.

Still want a golf shirt.

Fair enough, I just ordered one and will hope for delivery by next weekend. Or the following weekend, for the NCAA Tournament of course!

I kinda hope it's black as I have so much blue Zips stuff. I'm okay with using other colors on occasions. 😆

I assumed next weekend probably wasn't in play. That's fine, it looks good quality and is at a fair price. Besides the profits are reinvested in the team. I don't mind keeping it in my closet until next fall if need be.

Any affordable Zips gear like this is advantageous for me at the card shop I work at on the weekends. Akron gear sparks more conversation than people think. I've been wearing my Freeman jersey nearly every weekend recently and my boss told me some kids were quietly talking and pointing at the front of the jersey asking, "Is he wearing a Freeman jersey?"

It's a grassroots effort to promote the program/school haha.

Thanks for people like you and @Blue & Gold for spreading the fandom. It's challenging for me to get my friends to go to an Akron game that's not Kent or the MAC Tournament and those friends I try to get to go are Akron grads.

This may be true of UA, but several "I Promise" students have graduated from Kent State. As of last year, 74 "I Promise" students were pursuing college degrees.

It's also worth noting the school opened in 2018 to 3rd and 4th graders, and didn't extend to grades 1-8 until 2022. You're not seeing many college graduates yet because most of the kids aren't old enough yet, not because it's a failure.
