Doubtful, we already see how poor MACtion attendance is. How many people do you honestly think would show up to Infocision for an 11AM or 2PM bowl game during the work week just days before Christmas?

with the 9pm tip most fans would want to go out to dinner before the game but there are no tables available because of the holiday weekend.  So this 9pm tip screw up everthing.  #JohnsNextEndeavor...in process.

At what point do the G5 schools figure out that when the bowls are gone, they have no avenue to the post season and start their own division? Why aren't they actively and publicly doing it now?

To the extent we're not way past this point, we are now at this point where there needs to be a G6 playoff.  If worried about "number of postseason teams," make it 24 or 32 teams and do home games for the higher seed (since the bowls aren't gonna matter).

Something tells me a playoff game at Waldo would have drawn better than the 9K in Myrtle Beach, even if it were cold.

 

Obviously there's some moving parts with TV availability and such, but I would think this is a net positive financially for the G6 than the bowls are (even if you averaged out the loss of the ESPN Invitational spot/s)...at the very least you're losing half the travel since someone would be at home.

I wouldn't see why this proposed playoff would need 24 or 32 teams. The main CFP only has 12 to begin with. No need for G6 to have more than that.
