Groce has said the first game of the tournament is always the hardest. I can speculate as to why, but I can’t remember if he has ever said why?

Generally it's depth perception. Particularly for jump shooting teams it takes time to adjust in a much larger arena.

I buy that, but I was thinking it had to do with jitters and being over overly anxious.

Akron and Kent didn't play in the MAC Tournament last year.

They played 3 straight years from 2022-2024, so you're not far off. 2023 was the last time Kent beat Akron, too.

He almost got a T after being ejected, too. Was arguing for a foul on one of his teammates and nearly stepped onto the court. Had to be held back.

Thank you!! That makes me feel a little better. If our Zips can’t get fired up for a Kent game somethings wrong. I expect a different vibe tomorrow.
