I think it was less about Halligan being better in that role than it was Groce not wanting to mix things up late in the season. Halligan barely played in the MAC Tournament and NCAA.

 

Really like Zach, think guys like him are really valuable to programs, but he's a 5-10 minute per night player IMO.

On this team, most likely. Last year, his elevated role was fine. Our system will run through Tahj, Mahaffey, and Oriol - everyone else will have fluctuating roles, playing time, etc., depending on matchups and whether a player is "on" or not. This is the beauty of how this roster was constructed. It's legitimately a 10+ deep roster with only a couple players locked into actual positions.

Tuesday night I did notice Burton is not in a walking boot, but Idk if that's news to anyone or not.

You guys are probably right about Pence staying in the starting 5. I was thinking Groce may move Oriol to Pence's spot but having Oriol in the "Instant O" Shammah Scott 6th Man of the Year role is probably best. Especially early in the game/season if Ford brings Oriol in with Perkins to take pressure off of Tai.

Oriol was also the last guy added to the mix, so he may still be in the "fitting in" process.

Roster was constructed and played like this vs YSU. There are “3 positions” PG wing, Center 

 

we have 3 PGs: Staveskie Perkins, X. Wilson 

 

we have 8 wings: Mahaffey, Pence, Oriol, Halligan, White, MMK, Head, Henderson 

 

we have 3 centers: Barre, Burton, Hammer. 
 

the key will be finding combos and rotations of those 8 wings that give us offense and defense. The crazy part is there are 56 different combos you could have. 
 

my favorite right now would be Oriol, Mahaffey and MMK.

More than 56. I distinctly remember a stretch in the 2nd half that Hammer and Barre were on the court together.

I think Hammer was a 5 out of necessity, not unlike MMK in the past.

 

I was really encouraged by Tai's play.  If they can hold onto him in this crazy world of transfers, I think he could be special down the line.

His cousin(?) played for Todd May at Concord. Good family relations there I'd imagine.
