  2. English newspaper picked the best 11 by position in the world cup (while excluding Messi, Haaland, Mbappe and other superstars) Our beloved former zip from Canada made the best 11/ https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/jun/21/the-2026-world-cup-team-of-the-tournament-so-far-without-the-superstars Richie Laryea (Canada, left-back) Canada’s buildup was dominated by the fitness doubts surrounding their captain, Alphonso Davies. Jesse Marsch has not needed to risk his talismanic left-back in the opening two games thanks to the performances of Laryea, who usually plays on the right. The Toronto FC defender is full of running and provides the sort of attacking threat Marsch demands, a real outlet in the 6-0 takedown of Qatar. Davies’s absence need not be such a hindrance.
  3. I promise the season ends before Akron goes 4-8 again.
  4. God, this is pathetic! Who cares what Bowden is doing at this point!
  5. Remaining schedule for the Greenheads: 6/27 at home vs (they're going to be) 1-3 Ozarks 7/11 on the road at Ozarks (Springfield, MO) 7/18 at home against the Memphis team that just beat them 65-20 7/25 on the road at Arkansas So, a reasonably manageable schedule without the top two teams in the league on it, but...they're going to have to play better to get back into the playoff hunt.
  6. Yesterday
  7. 65-20 was that final. So...things are trending downward for the Greenheads.
  8. Monroe well on their way to drop to 1-3 at the midway point, down 36-14 in Memphis at the break. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BU_Lx-kuQs
  9. Last week
  10. Well that requires effort, and I'm still not sure Akron's Athletic Department does that sort of thing.
  11. Delaware marketed the crap out of themselves in the game and I believe even had a contest for those who used them in dynasty. Akron could afford to do the same.
  12. After making 2nd half subs, Canada now has Richie playing CB. He really can do it all!
  13. the Zips will play at Cleveland State on October 20th https://csuvikings.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule August 20 Dayton August 28 Wake Forest September 3 at West Virginia September 12 at St. Louis September 18 Butler (BE) October 11 Creighton (BE) October 20 at Cleveland State October 24 Xavier (BE) if the zips have 17 games on their schedule., I think that we probably know their 17 opponents 8 opponents with known schedule date Big East games to be played 1) Georgetown at home 2 thru 5.....Providence, Villanova, Marquette and DePaul on the road Home non conference games that have been mentioned by coaches 6 thru 9.....Army, Cornell, Syracuse and Robert Morris... go, Zips... this is an exciting schedule....for an exciting team
  14. 52 days from today (June 17)...the zips will host Michigan in the first exhibition game Saturday August 8th https://mgoblue.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule
  15. Every year it is always going to be a new picture with different players. I already miss the bygone years when players entered as frosh and we observed players improve each year. And some players did not improve and transferred out. Players coming to Akron for one year was the exception and not the rule.
  16. Are Abreu and Betancourt still playing? Could be a pretty good PRMNT.
  17. Another very tough non conference road matchup Akron at West Virginia on Thursday night September 3rd https://wvusports.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule What we know so far.... August 20 Dayton August 28 Wake Forest September 3 at West Virginia September 12 at St. Louis September 18 Butler (BE) October 11 Creighton (BE) October 24 Xavier (BE) Coach Embick and Coach Nanchoff have let fans know that Georgetown will be the 4th Big East home game. Based on past schedules, the zips will play Big East road games at DePaul, Marquette, Providence and Villanova. Zips coaches have previously mentioned attractive home games against Army, Cornell, Syracuse and Robert Morris.
  18. We now know that the zips will play a marquee matchup on the road.... Saturday September 12th.....Zips will be in St. Louis to get some revenge on the Billikens https://slubillikens.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule/2026
  19. That is such a strange font initially I thought it was for the Greek National team. 🤣
  20. For those of you who are not native Spanish speakers. 😊 Forward Enrique Freeman will make his debut with the Puerto Rican national team this summer after confirming his participation, according to president Yum Ramos.
  21. Earlier
  22. Monroe will drop to 1-2 as Arkansas gets a 45-43 win on the road. So Bowden's first game win might have been because Iowa is awful (they lost 74-22 tonight). We'll see how the last five games go
  23. I missed updating here, good job 😐 Last weekend, the Greenheads lost 44-30 in their home opener to Nebraska (who through two weeks feels like a title contender). Tonight they're back at home against a decidedly not-as-contender Arkansas Diamonds squad. 37-26 Monroe midway through the third https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzJpkPNGK8k
  24. This feels more likely. I could see a top team getting $1M but $12M feels excessive. If it's true, though, Sac State is getting $30M next year
