  1. Past hour
  2. One was a former player from many decades ago who stayed involved over the years. The other was a woman who I think was married to a former alumni who is also very involved in the program. I don't remember the names. There was a moment of silence for them before the game.
  3. Larger role indeed, apparently the emphasis is on the first syllable.
  4. I did Akron Basketball Camp with their son Chris. Great guy. Sorry for their loss. Zips Nation lost a good one.
  5. most recent was Julie Acus, former dietician for Zips athletes. her husband was the orthopedic doctor for akron basketball and football.
  6. He spoke a bit about Lisa Acus, wife of Dr. Acus. Her calling hours are this week but Doc was at the game tonight. An official he was also close to was discussed along with Larry Williams.
  7. I don't know, we had a guy named Freeman in that time frame that could also leap pretty good. 😊
  8. That dunk by Eric had to juice our entire team.
  9. That’s an interesting tidbit.
  10. I. Thought 9:00 PM start
  11. I didn’t catch the start of the post game and I turned it on and groce was talking about a bunch of people that passed away recently. Anyone have the context of that?
  12. always tough to play Toledo. Brydens mom was at game. they wont be at Toledo next year.
  13. Groce was interesting in the post-game. Said Toledo was more physical and played with more urgency in the first half while the Zips didn't impose their will and played poorly on defense but were fortunate to shoot well enough to stay in the game. Eric has the best hops for the Zips since Tribble. I've been waiting for his breakout game and I hope this was a sign of things to come.
  14. Important to point out the 6pm start time
  15. PCCC comes to the JAR Friday night at 6:00 to renew the rivalry. The Flushes are 16-5 coming off a home win against OU. 6’8” senior forward Delrecco Gillespie leads PCCC in scoring and rebounding at 19.4 ppg and 12.3 rpg. He’s 3rd in the MAC in scoring and first in rebounding. Morgan Safford, a 6’4” grad student scores 13.7 ppg along with 6 rpg. Gillespie’s cousin, 6’7” 290 pound Nevada transfer grad student Rob Whaley contributes 12.3 ppg and 4.1 rpg and seems to be taking on a larger role as the season has progressed. Gillespie has made a huge improvement this year after averaging 8.1 ppg and 8.1 rpg last season.
  16. Kent finally pulls away from Ohio at home. A couple observations. - Ohio is pathetic. Really undisciplined and very low skill. - Read BobcatAttack and my new favorite play on words is Boalsh*t. - Whaley was wearing sunglasses on the bench at the end of the game. Sendy has another team of high class, let me tell ya. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a new diss track they've produced.
  17. And the Mahaffey brothers combined - 24 points, 17 rebounds, 4-5 from three, 4 assists, 2 steals and one turnover.
  18. And I believe only 2 threes in the second half
  19. Wow gave up 49 in the first half and held them to 32 in the second.
  20. The most impressive win of the season by far. Withstood super hot shooting by Toledo amd are going to win by double digits.
  21. Way to close it out. On to Kent!
  22. These fouls kinda make me wonder if one of these Toledo guys is in on Akron -10.5
  23. Pretty much!
  24. Today
  25. I remember Akron teams that would struggle so much with the press. This team is too athletic for the press to work.
  26. Great way to break that full court press
