  1. Past hour
  2. Farrell (not Remi) replaces Ferguson. Anyone know if Remi is injured?
  3. Providence gets a 3-2 road win they now have 13 points 4-2-1 record providence ends the regular season with a home game against league leader Georgetown Seton Hall and Creighton were tied 1-1 at 51 minutes
  4. First year coach right? I watched the game and the stats seemed to show we were better this year despite a similar record
  5. Today
  6. Ferguson and O'Rourke in starting lineup O'Rourke has been playing some very good soccer
  7. Seton Hall up on Creighton 1-0. If Seton Hall wins, might not be the worst thing for the Zips since they tied SHU and one of the tiebreakers is how you did against the highest ranked teams. Both Creighton and the Zips have lost to UConn.
  8. DePaul and Providence tied 1-1 at the half. A tie would be helpful in this game. And in the continuing theme of Big East schools having ball field infields on their soccer pitches, DePaul does as well. I think only Creighton and Georgetown have equivalent soccer facilities to Akron's in the Big East. And unrelated but still strange ESPN+ is showing four NCAA women's hockey games at the same time on the same screen.
  9. Come on I was waiting for someone else to praise Bassitt. Another scoreless inning (has given up one hit in the postseason) with two strikeouts. Would have been the winning pitcher had Toronto been able to complete their comeback (runners on 2nd and 3rd with none out and score no runs is pretty rough) to be the pitcher that got the win in the clinching World series game. Darn it.
  10. St. John's holds the tiebreaker on us and finishes at Butler. We desperately need the win today.
  11. 6-6 looks actually possible. Far from a guarantee but possible.
  12. Always select going to a bowl. If you win, great. If you lose regardless of the score, with the exception of a few loud fans, the loses are easily forgotten in the backdrop of the holiday season. Zips fans could easily move into MBB.
  13. In the early Big East Game St. John's earned a 3-1 win at Villanova. St. John's is now 3-3-1 (10 points) Villanova is 1-3-3 (6 pts)
  14. Given where this program has been since that 50-3 game, I'll take the Bowl.
  15. Is it correlation or causation? Enrollment increases are pretty easy to achieve regardless of FB or BB results.
  16. How is the athletic department not doing this? It's been pretty successful across the board.
  17. Meanwhile, every Cinderella that has made a run in football or basketball has seen interest, engagement, and enrollment increases in the years following their run(s). Here's the life lesson being learned: strong athletics athletics are good marketing tools for universities.
  18. The University isn't spending ~30 million a year just to provide life lessons to ~400 student athletes (if you even want to call them that anymore). That would be absurd. That might have been its intended purpose 100 years ago, but we've long moved past that. Now it's about enhancing the college experience, keeping alumni engaged, getting your name out there, and building good will in the community.
  19. Thanks to some favorable results from Akron opponents earlier tonight, the Zips moved up from #14 to #12 in the RPI. Closing out the regular season with two wins should get us a top 16 seed (and first round bye).
  20. Cleveland State 2-1 win over IU Indy Ohio State got a very rare win this year…1-0 over the Nittany’s Milwaukee 2-1 over Northern Kentucky in a game not listed above, Western Michigan got a 2-1 win over Drake.
  21. West Virginia stepped up tonight and got a very impressive 3-0 win over Marshall. Vermont won 2-0 over Albany. Vermont might move up to number 1 in the country. Stanford was number 1. Stanford played Cal today. Cal had a 1-5-1 ACC record. 5-7-2 overall record. Cal earned a 1-0 win over the Cardinal.
