It's not in decline everywhere, and general data is not the type of data they'd be looking at.

There is plenty of data showing college sports attendance is in decline. I was at a Texas vs Kansas State game a couple of years ago in Austin. Texas has a beautiful area. The upper deck had curtains drawn and there couldn't have been 7,000 people. A new basketball arena will be yet another albatross around the school's neck.

The MAC pissed down its leg today going 3-10. They lost the SunBelt challenge 12-14.

Certainly they'd do research on other universities in similar situations before doing that. Unfortunately, I don't have that type of data.

Respectfully, there has to be a better answer than this to spend tens of millions.

It's hard to say, but I will say that the bleachers are uncomfortable enough that I won't go to a game unless we have reserved tickets, and I love Zips basketball more than the average fan. I definitely think it keeps some people away.

I agree with Halligan, but its challenging to give both him and Evan extended playing time together. Young is a good defender. I'm not sure he's a lock down defender, at least not now.

I think Sharron is a very good defender. Zack's decent. However, those two are contributing little else at this point. I sure wish Sharron would break out of his shooting slump. This year his FG% was 40% and he's shooting 30% from 3. Last year he 46% and 40%.

If Akron spent $20 million on an arena, how much do you think attendance would increase and for how long? In its current state, has Akron reached maximum attendance?

On postgame Groce doesn't seem at all upset with how we played. He was happy with effort, communication & execution. Just thinks 3-ball simply didn't fall tonight.

Troy's ginger was really good down the stretch. Akron didn't play bad, they just fell short against a team that turned the defense up.

Who starts can play an impact on rotations and pairings throughout the rest of game. It can also impact how a player plays. Shammah has earned a starting job. Sharron and Zach haven't yet.

Also, I thought Bowen was a problem defensively in the 2nd half. He was out of position and then would try to run out to the 3 point shooter. The shooter just instead dribbled past him, which made Lyles rotate. This left Amani's man to get an easy offensive rebound put back. Outside of Evan I'm not sure we have any great defenders. Not having a lock down perimeter defender might be what we miss most this season by not having Nate.

It would be ideal if this is our let down game for the year. The game at WMU scares me tho

Sharron seems to have lost his offensive game.

The Zips are off until Friday when UMASS comes into the JAR for the first time. UMASS comes in at 15-10 overall and 6-6 in the MAC. They are coming off a 3 point loss to Coastal Carolina in the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge. The game is at 9:00 (yawn) on CBS Sports Network 6'9" grad student forward Leonardo Bettiol leads UMASS in scoring and rebounding at 17.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg. 6'3" grad student guard Marcus Banks is second in scoring at 16.8 ppg. They are 6th in standings, 6th in team offense and seventh in defense in the MAC.

Unfortunately the Akron Zoo does not have kangaroos 😞

I'm not sure adjusting the starting lineup will do much. The opening 7 minutes we played great. It was the 33 minutes that followed that was the problem.

Predictable. Same weaknesses all year. We had more last season. Not to say we can't upset MAC competition and make the tournament but probably not a team to advance.

Kent wasn't a good performance either if we are being honest, they were just even worse. It's time to make some adjustments. Starting/playing Halligan and Evan together doesn't work. Halligan didn't play much of the 2nd half, so hopefully that adjustment is on the way. His minutes should be matchup-based. Start Eric or Bowen instead. Also, put Shammah in the starting lineup. I know he hasn't played well lately, but he and Tavari have good chemistry, and if we are going to accomplish what we want to do in the end, Shammah is going to have to play really well. Sharron is perfect as the first guard off the bench.
