  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks for all the recommendations! We'll see how it goes. If all goes well we'll be in the area around 2 p.m., check into our hotel and make our way to the stadium area. Looking forward to checking out your tailgating scene and meeting some Zips before the game.
  3. Wyoming’s depth chart is out. I tried posting above, but was having tech issues. There are few surprises compared to what was expected heading into fall camp, though for the most part it looks about as anticipated.
  4. Yesterday
  5. The first two years out of Covid were electric. Downhill after that, last year was horrendous
  6. Soccer crowds got worse under Guthrie hope they can turn it around under Goodrich. This is about what it was last year when I went
  7. Crowd definitely not as good as few years ago. Could be worse though especially since it’s not a big name opponent.
  8. Who is the bozo doing play by play on ESPN Plus? someone needs to tell him that our GK name is not pronounced BOOD ler
  9. Since you're staying in Canton I'd recommend going to FatHeads if you're into beer. Some of the best IPAs in the country. Excellent smoked wings. They have a sister location in Canton. https://fatheads.com/
  10. WMU off to a bad start puts a damper on our OOC schedule...
  11. My recommendation for that area would be Palombo's Italian Restaurant. It's minutes away and the food gets slept on. If you get a side salad, the white french dressing is a must.
  12. Biggest game of the year in my opinion. I think if we lose this game Zips may not gain any traction or confidence at all. Nebraska is really going to try and run the score up for the home opener and send a message to their fans then go on the road to UAB. Duquesne is not a sure win especially after three losses if that is what happens, then 2 of the next three games are Toledo and Miami. Could be 1-6 or 2-5 right of the gate. Akron beats Wyoming now maybe they have some confidence and come out of the first 7 games 4-3 losing to Nebraska, Toledo, and Miami..
  13. Lots of restaurants on the strip & if you want a traditional Akron-area chain find the Rockne's 1 block (ish) west of the strip. There are a handful of Rockne's around the Akron area & I've never not had great food there. It's your typical sports bar type of place. If you like burgers get the Mack-the-Knife Jr. with fries. Unless you're a former offensive lineman you only need to get the junior.
  14. Wyoming has a new QB and a good offensive line. Seems to me that this game will be won or lost based on how good Wyoming runs the ball. If they are getting a good push and controlling the clock I think they win. If the Zips can stop the run, force a new qb into some 3rd and longs then it favors the Zips.
  15. Dayton really dominated WMU at WMU 18 shots to 7 11 shots on goal other games today number 1 Vermont with a 4-0 win over Boston U DePaul and Oakland battled to a 1-1 result Marquette with 2-1 win over Northern Florida
  16. 5-3 final was perhaps an "ugly win" versus a lesser opponent? Zips were outshot 17-10. 6-2 in Corners. But we scored the last two and held on for the victory.
  17. Shootout at Cub Cadet for the Akron women this afternoon. 5-3 lead over the Screamin' Eagles of Southern Indiana. 8 minutes remaining.
  18. Sunday August 24 number 12 Dayton defeated number 20 Western Michigan 4-0
  19. Yeah, I graduated in 2015 and have had it (still do) for the past 4-5 years. They just never really advertised it previously. It used to include women's soccer and volleyball too, but it looks like they don't offer season ticket packages for those sports at all anymore -- only single game tickets.
  20. I don't know what to expect from UMass in year 1. UMass, from what I read, seems to be the only MAC program that has NIL that is competitive to what we're spending. In fact, I think it's a slight step up from our spend. Last year they paid a lot of money for players that didn't really pan out or frankly just weren't worth the money they got. I think Groce and Bud have been great at finding players within our budget who fit what we need. It's to be seen if a coach like Martin has learned to adapt to this new age of college athletics. Unlike other MAC programs he won't be able to blame not having the resources to compete.
  21. I do see the line is now 7.5 with O/U 50. Looks like the winner needs to generate some offense. Think its either Wyoming going away or maybe Akron pulls one out late. I doubt the defense will hold a lead.
  22. If you are at the airport and want to eat go south on I-77 a couple of exits and get off at Portage St. and turn right. The area is called The Strip. There are tons of restaurants of all kinds. Easier to get to if you are out of town and near the airport.
  23. Good interview. He seems very likeable and determined.
