  1. I want Akron and Western Michigan seeded on opposite sides of the bracket. I want an all MAC NCAA Final. How cool is it that Western Michigan upped their game enough to be in at-large position as well? Loved the comment from the announcer as the game ended - "The Kings are still Kings"!

  2. One last thing regarding this game for me (and if I am wrong tell me): I actually noticed our assistant coaches coaching for once. I did not notice that with the prior staff.

  4. Whoa whoa whoa. Can someone who is more educated about soccer rules please explain to me why there wasn't a foul on WMU running over our goalie on their goal? Thornton (the guy who scored that) is from Copley. Talk about being a thorn in our side...

  7. I think it might be time for Reghi to retire. He kept mixing up the Zips and Cleveland State and kept referring to it as the Coaches For Cancer classic. ? But nice win for a young team.

  9. I have a contrary opinion. I agree that the coaches feel Woody is our best QB. But Woody did something, although unstated, that probably put the best interests of the team as an afterthought. If that is the decision of a senior 3 year starter then to me he is no longer our best QB and Kato should get the nod from here on out. For once forget about what we need this week or the last few games and start making decisions that will elevate our culture and the performance of Akron football for years to come. Stop acting like we are desperate for a savior at QB. Send the message no man is above the team. Do that and the team will find a way to win. Next man up. Our team needs discipline and unfortunately Bowden does not demand it. It's time that changes, even if he is on the way out. We deserve better.

  10. Everyone needs to just shut up about him. He is a traitor who walked out on a contract and took half the team with him. Maybe he did us a favor. Groce came up with some nice recruits.

  14. Right. Perhaps WMU will refrain from their usual late game cheap shots since they have more left to their season.

  23. The ONE game in my 15 years of Zips fanhood when I actually didn't know the players' names, they decided not to have their names on their jerseys!!! Back to being serious, RIP in coach Peters. It is nice to still see him remembered considering all the changes this year. Here are my game observations: 1 - If I had to choose between a big lead in the first chocked away in the second and a big hole in the first with adjustments in the second, I will always pick the latter. 2 - Free throws can win you or cost you a game. It is nice to be on this side of the fence. 3 - I hope someone can talk to Ivey and convince him that he is only one of 10 players in the rotation and that he should just relax and play his game. 4 - Parish was statistically the best freshman on the team but I am really intrigued with having Sayles in the paint. You will not see it in the box score but he totally had the Zeke effect when he was on the court. (BTW: The Zeke effect is when players on the other team are scared to go in the paint because there is a good chance their shot/layup will be blocked). 5 - I felt that Utomi and Ivey took too many 3 pointers (sometimes too early in the shot clock). I am hoping to see less and less of that. I did not have very high expectations for this team before the game and I still do not see them beating quality opponents. However, I very much enjoyed watching the game (the second half more than the first) and I am looking forward to seeing the development of this young team.

  25. Cotton's play didn't bother me too much. Running point in your first game as a true fresh probably isn't easy for anyone. Kostelac and his lack of minutes stuck to me as well, and I agree re: Ivey. Wasn't his best game, but did seem to settle after he was yanked early in the 2nd half. I really, REALLY liked our FT shooting as team. That's a more than refreshing change if we can keep that up.

  26. Nice win for the Zips. A very strong second half. They scored and played some defense!

  27. That was fun. A tale of 2 halves for sure. I'm excited about all these young, new guys along with the further development of Ivey and Utomi (who looked like a straight boss tonight). All these freshman look like they belong. Go Zips!

  28. Nasty block followed by an even NASTIER dunk! That's what i want to see out of this team!

  29. Where can I get a Sayles jersey? And Duvivier with the HAMMER! Edit: Should've queued up Zombie Nation and highlights of the block instead of the dot race and smile cam.

  31. This game has pretty much gone as I expected. Zips are showing zero chemistry and the freshmen are making some rookie mistakes. Missed passes and unforced errors everywhere. Most of what I am seeing can be fixed with just continued practice time though.

  33. How about Mentor HS QB Tadas Tatarunas? A 6'4, 220 lb 2018 QB , on the Mr Ohio Watch list , his team playing St Ignatious next week in the Region 1 D1 final. They upset St Edwards this week. Tatarunas for his 3 year career has approx 8,500 yards passing , 80 TDs, a 3.9 GPA. Has led his team to some dramatic comebacks in the past several weeks, for the season has approx 28 passing TDs and 6 running TDs, w approx 2,800 yards passing. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/3830161/59c6b2d44ba86a0a40d102ef
