  1. Last time the Zips won at home, you found a way to complained about the attendance in the thread rather than giving the team any credit and discussing the game. This time, you claim a Zips player was purposely "trying" to commit a hard foul with less than 5 seconds and the MAC officials shouldn't have swallowed their whistles. I think Ivey was just going for the block, I definitely didn't see an aggressive intentional foul approach ...... No matter which side you're on, you shouldn't expect that call at that point in the game especially on a putback - the block up top was pretty clean but there was definitely body contact after the block. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of rebound contact/ positioning while that shot was in the air by both teams. That was not bad officiating, they did (unlike the 1st UA/ Ball State game) what they're supposed to do at the end of a game - not decide the game on anything questionable. Everyone knows that. On a side note - Come on man, that was a good solid road win for such a depleted team - 2 non-scholarship players almost played a combined full game with 37 minutes. Please get over your coach issues and move on. It's so early in the Groce tenure and started with such a short deck even before the injuries. As a long time member of this board and going way back to the old blue board, I don't remember any supposed "zip" posters having this much of a passive-aggressive agenda from day 1 with a team over a coaching change. It really kills the board. I'm not big on calling people out but you're just non stop biased nonsense with this team and some of its players.

  4. Gwalk-on 2 is Gbadebo. Yes, the G before walk is there on purpose.

  5. When Parrish completely blows a defensive assignment and his guy nails a wide-open three, being benched for awhile is a learning tool. Same when K-lac commits a stupid foul. With the roster being as thin as it is, if Cotton was excelling right now he would be starting and playing big minutes at the point. And Duvivier would slide over to the 2 spot much of the time. Not only is Cotton not starting, he is losing real minutes to a walk-on. Gbadebo has his limitations, but he plays within his role. He plays sound defense, brings the ball up the court, but most importantly he protects the ball and limits turnovers. And kudos on hitting the 3pter. We are way too late in the season for Groce to be "sending messages" to Cotton. It is my opinion that Cotton is half-way out the door. As the cool kids say today, Cotton needs to get woke. Players were given 2 years to prove their potential before being let go at Illinois, but I would not be surprised if Groce is aggressively recruiting over him. UAZip0510 introduced us to Neftali Alvarez just the other day. I like what I see. Note to Self: Hustle 1 is Lucas Smith and Hustle 2 is K-lac. Gbadebo is the Gwalk-on.

  10. I made the original post and I thought it was a foul because Jimond made contact with the player after the block. I did not post this comment as a bad thing. My point was that everyone complains about the refs and sometimes (not often) Akron get the benefit of the doubt. I cannot tell you how many times on the road that call will be made against Akron. This team played a great game and deserved the win.

  11. Akron is a stepping stone. At least I think it shows a sign of character that he is at least being open and transparent, that's all we can ask for.

  14. Don't recall if Bowden recruited him or not, but Conor Hundley from St. Xavier sticks out. But I do agree, we haven't done much there. He's never talked about it really when discussing his strategy, which I believe is NEO, Western PA, Central Ohio, and FL.

  16. Top 4 of the 5 teams are from the western division. Does anyone remember when the east used to be the class of the league? How the mighty have fallen.

  18. A little bit. Made some mistakes, and then never saw the floor again. It's either they want him to learn by watching, or he's truly in the doghouse.

  19. He played a few minutes in the 1st half. He had two really bad, unnecessary turnovers and got benched.

  31. The only way it seems to me to help the University is financially. Again, the Info hangs like an albatross. Otherwise, there are several concerns for the football program in particular. First, the number of top quality DI athletes in Ohio is not what it used to be. Population out migration. The very best Ohio athletes are going to OSU or probably another Big-10 program. That leaves what is left for programs like Akron..etc.Then come the Toledos,Cincys etc that will pick off the best of the rest. Second, how many of the other MAC schools are limiting themselves in this way? That means that the out of state recruits that Akron may no longer pursue are going to go to places like OU,Toledo,WMU,Pitt,Cincy etc. if they come to Ohio at all. The repercussions of this have yet to be felt, obviously!
