  1. I know nothing about the situation. BUT if I had a nickel for every false rumor I have heard about an Akron athlete... I'm just a fan, and I am more pumped about next season than I have been in more than a decade. I can't imagine if I were a solid contributor this year, how excited I would be for next season. ??

  2. nice article giving credit to wil for the defensive play of the game http://www.espn.com/soccer/blog/the-match/60/post/3434308/wil-trapp-takes-his-chance-in-new-look-us-midfield

  3. Capacity-wise, the JAR is fine. It's just an bush-league facility. Bad sight lines, and high school gym seating. No loges. No beer sales. At $60 per season ticket, it's worth it as-is. But before I die it is my dream to sit in a revamped JAR, in a soft-cushion seat that angles towards mid-court, with a beer, watching the Zips. I think I paid $200/seat this year? I'd pay $500/seat in the re-vamped arena.

  4. I went to the game tonight and loved seeing 3 Zips start and get lots of playing time. Last time I was in this stadium Darlington had an Akron jersey on. At the end of the first half Bobby Wood shot a PK and I had flashbacks of horror from the last time I was here, but luckily this PK went in

  5. That's just brutal. So much for build it and they will come. And how much truth is packed into this line? "The NCAA tourney system is rigged against schools such as UTA, and nothing the school did by firing Cross changes anything about its situation."

  6. The men's and Women's Basketball Team Rooms would make great beer distribution points. Both have mega screen Tv's so you can watch Reghi while you get another brew.

  7. Awesome! I was there last night, too. So great to have all 3 former Zips start, and 2 go full time with Nagbe subbed out very late. It was well worth the 8 hour drive each way! 3rd time I saw Darlington play on that field. 2/3 were the right result!

  8. ...JJ felt under-appreciated after 2017 season: "The MAC did some political things & I know damn well I was better than those guys ahead of me. It’s time for me to do what I do without the MAC." Good luck to him. But also good luck to finding a conference without "political things." When your a good player in the MAC, the NFL has proven over and over, they will find you.

  9. Bizarre rationale for leaving your team? Seems more like he was searching for an excuse. He just wants a bigger stage to showcase himself for the NFL draft. All the better for the Zips. He's a good player.

  10. A lot of similarities to Akron Despite having a relatively new basketball arena, a larger student body, and larger metro area they still have the same issues as us in not being able to fill their basketball arena. Makes you question the logic when people say a new arena will fix Akron's attendance problems.

  11. I would guess coach Stroud. With all his other responsibilities, it's a good idea to get him help.

  14. We're going to have co-defensive coordinators this year. A member of the current staff plus a blast from the past. I can't divulge who just yet. Let's see who makes the right guesses.

  16. Does that mean there's no chance he'll try to continue playing somewhere?
