Best jump in the world so far this year regardless of professional, collegiate, etc.3 points

Good to see the Zips terrible offense didn’t affect their effort on the defensive side. They need to find some way to score in the second half. Hardly any open looks in the first half.2 points

I enjoyed watching the meet on ESPN3. The production was quite good all in all. Two areas for improvement arose though. The announcers, Dave Bacon and Jesse ?, continually gave the wrong names of the competitors or did not know their name. They needed a team spotter from Akron and Kent who would know all the names for the announcers benefit. Second, the director and the announcers were not always in sync. Many times the broadcast was something other than what the announcers were commenting on. I blame this on the director in the control trailer. Okey, that aside the meet was a classic Akron-Kent dual. It was priceless to see Ludwig malled on the PV cushion by his teammates when he set the national mark for this year. The women's 4 x 400 relay team blew away Kent at the end of the meet. Outstanding! Each event was exciting and hard to predict the outcome. The crowd showed well and the event was first class. Akron puts on a hell of an indoor meet and our athletes respond to it. I hope the next meet, the Akron Invitational, is also streamed on ESPN.2 points

https://www.cleveland.com/sports/2019/01/mac-basketball-at-a-high-attendance-is-low.html I am always selling the program as the best entertainment in town. A friend of mine took his family of four. They bought the Family Pack tickets for a total of $55 to sit in the bleachers, paid $10 to park, bought food for about $25 and a baseball cap for $30 for a total of $120. He and his wife are both graduates of Akron and said that they doubt that will return to a game. These are big league prices and we wonder why the arena is less than half full. The athletic department should be giving tickets away to every youth basketball program in the area and then hand them a buy one get one coupon for a return game. Try to fill the place, go back to free parking and have good concessions at a reasonable price. I bet they would be shocked on how much food/drink and merchandise they would sell. The JAR is great when it is full and our guys deserve more fan support.1 point

If we're both feeling it, then the basketball gods have to come through for Utomi, right?!1 point

they need a run! that is only way to generate interest. Parking sucks and is BS for $10. I'm OK with concessions but what about apparel? an ice cream truck is bigger then our team shop! yeah...t-shirt give aways are cool. but who wants to wear a t-shirt when its 4 degrees out side and you have to walk 500 yds to get to the arena?? get some threads in there. set up a little shop upstairs too, like the consessions. Someone mentioned giving tickets to area youth basketball programs. That is an outstanding idea! Hell...have them gather at their rec center and pick em up in a Zips van...like they are part of the team and then drop them off! How cool would that be?? you could have them feel like part of the team. give them a couple of trinkets. bottom...we need to win, hopefully its in March......Go Zips!1 point

Without quoting a bunch of posts, here are a few of my thoughts... - $10 parking is a joke; it should at most be $5. They used to only charge parking during big games. - Concessions lack any sort of personal touch to connect with fans - Zippy meals, better pricing, marketing campaigns, etc. - The in-season ticket package has a stagnant price ($75 or something like that) despite not being a season ticket ($60 for season tickets) and a dwindling number of games included each time it's advertised. That's some Can't State math/logic... - The marketing is really, really bad. They seem content with the fan base they currently have, having made somewhat weak attempts to draw the greater Akron community to the games. - Dizzy bat is the single greatest time out promotion ever. They need to do it every time out, minus maybe once for the kids on the bouncy balls. They should also get the zorb balls or whatever they're called and have 2 people run at each other, colliding, and seeing who moves the furthest. - The media production of the games needs to get better, both in game and before/after. I know Chad is doing a great job with what he has, but there needs to be more support from the University to take the production to the next level. That will only help with marketing the University. - The timing of certain entertainment factors is headscratching at times. The championship level soccer program was introduced at halftime earlier this season, with very little/no prior announcement. Most people had already gone to walk around. There is no common chant to get the crowd engaged (FSU's War Chant, Hang on Sloopy for OSUcks, etc.). This isn't just a basketball problem either. The University lacks a mind/visionary with the drive and creativity to make Akron something special. EDIT: I forgot one MASSIVE frustration... No matter who they have manning the t-shirt cannon, nobody knows how to 1) wrap the t-shirts so they don't open up mid flight or 2) fire the thing properly at the correct launch angle.1 point

Clark, thank you for reminding me. I remember the first time I saw these events. I thought my life was complete and the Good Lord could take me. I hope heaven has Hippity Hop Balls or is it hell that has 'em?1 point

Still best to cheer for Buffalo. A Buffalo win plus an Akron win tomorrow would slide us into tie for 3rd place in the MAC.1 point

You want some entertainment for $10 and you can park for free? Come to the Stile Athletics Fieldhouse tonight and watch YOUR Zippies - MAC Champions by the way - track and field team battle it out against the Flushes in the Wagon Wheel Challenge parts 5 and 6! Starts at 7! Or like a lot of you on this forum, you can catch it for free on ESPN3 (but come, really...)1 point

I think Sayles wore out his welcome last night when a CMU got an offensive rebound on a free throw by just going around him. I watched E-man last night and he actually seeks out a guy to put his body on before he goes for a rebound. He needs to teach Sayles.1 point

Need to hold them to 28 in the second half (and score more than 32).0 points

I'm guessing it's one of those flags people wear like a cape. Just pure speculation.0 points

It will be entertaining right up to the point that blood's spilled on the floor, which appears to be only a matter of time. I sure hope the school is having those kids sign some air tight releases. And yes, I realize I'm the "you'll shoot your eye out kid" guy.0 points
