I wonder what made YSU change their mind about playing Ohio MAC schools. Their AD was adamant they would only agree to a home and home. Personally, I thought it short sided on their part. It seems like a win/win for both parties. Akron will have an FCS opponent that will interest both home fans and will attract some visitor fans. YSU gets to collect a paycheck with next to no expense while also getting the opportunity to prove the rhetoric they have said all these years about being a peer to Akron/Kent.

Our next two games are @Ball State & @BGSU. I can live with losing the BGSU game as we're currently 3 back from them with only 7 games left. The game we really need is Ball State. With a loss they would slide 1 game behind us and own the tie-breaker. The season hasn't gone the way Ball State expected, but they still have some talent and are more than capable of going on a run given their weak remaining MAC schedule. It's just best for us to bury them that way we don't have to worry about them for seeding.

Not that this is saying much but I actually thought this was Riak's best offensive game of MAC play. He went 4/5 from the field with 8 points. I'll take that from my center. What I'm surprised to see noone mention is that I, from my seat in the bleachers, scored as many points as our entire bench tonight. I did that while taking 4 fewer shots. Banks looked like a really good 3 and D guy early on in the season. With Roscoe and Pokie not being big offensive factors, he needs to be a spark off the bench. With our thin bench we're going to be exposed in Cleveland where you have to win 3 games in 3 days. I think we're a year away.

You should really cut back on drinking during the week.

I liked the way they finished strong, They are a player or two away from being on Buffalo's level.

If there is ever a team I'd want to run it up on, this is it. Eliminate any doubt that we are a step above them.

I sit up in the student section. Generally, it is me, my wife, a group of middle aged men and at most a dozen students. The Buffalo game, sadly, had more than usual (25 to 30?). The KSU game was fun in that section. The overall attendance however, despite being the largest of the year, was a little disappointing.

I agree. My biggest concern with this team is depth. When Akron was the class of the MAC the Zips were playing ten or eleven players on many nights. I know we are unfortunately without Sayles so that plays a factor but how many minutes would he be getting if he was available?. We also no longer have Kostelac but I am not sure how much time he would have seen either. I like what Groce is doing and how he is getting the team to respond overall. My one criticism of him, though, has been the small rotation size. I know there are two ways to look at it. Do you play your very best players as many minutes as possible with fewer periods of rest to try to maximize productivity or do you play a larger rotation to keep everyone engaged and more energized? I guess I lean more toward the latter with the exception of giving my star player or the guy with the hot hand that night more minutes.

MANY of the free throws were at the end on intentional fouls. Not a real stat. We played pretty well, considering a ranked team. Cheese has turned into a star We need a center. We need a center. My kingdom for a center.

Maybe they should have promoted there was free parking tonight. No one in the deck to collect money or parking pass stubs.

When I got in my car, French and Dunn were announcing offensive player of the game. They gave it to Jackson. Yeah, he scored 20 points, but, as usual, he made some bone-headed selfish plays that stifled their momentum and led to some easy points for Buffalo. He does this every game, and this time it really cost them. I do like how Groce will come out after every game even if it's a loss and tell it like it is. The former coach didn't do that.

They were given around 20 more chances to make 82%. Not saying that's the reason we lost, but man...

I knew LCJ was going to put up that contested 3 as soon as it was passed to him. Down 6 you need to work for better shots.

Buffalo's offense just has so much more motion.

The commitment to defense is amazing with this team. They get punched in the mouth by Buffalo and their own offensive woes, yet still hustle their rear ends off. We HAVE to be better offensively to win this game.

They choose in the middle of an Akron possession to practice the T-shirt cannon, then proceed to launch them into the rafters during the timeout. Oy vey... Great game so far though.

MAC officials are the absolute worst. And this goes both ways tonight.
