  7. Build a beautiful modern stadium on campus with ample clean restrooms and good modestly priced concessions, with ample cheap/free parking and modestly priced tickets (free to students), and safe comfortable tailgating opportunities. I'm not sure what's so unappealing about all of that.

  8. Another interesting stat: Freeman is THIRD in the entire COUNTRY in rebounds per 40 minutes played!

  9. Are there enough donors? Is our fan base large? If he knows the changes that need to be made, why haven't they been implemented? I like George. He's always been very good to me, and is definitely a "UA Guy." But does 2021 UA Athletics need a "solid" choice, or a "great" choice? We have botched pretty much every AD hire since Mike Bobinski. You could make a case for Mike Thomas, but the JD Brookhart hire wasn't a home run to say the least. We need an up-and-comer from a successful upper-G5 or scrappy P5 school. Someone that won't screw up basketball and soccer, and will elevate football. Someone with fresh ideas and a plan to get football on track that can be directly attributable to his/her work in a similar previous situation. I can't blame Williams for bowing out. 2021 is a lousy time to become a G5 AD. But we are an FBS football school with a great stadium and practice facilities. A winning basketball program and a top 10 soccer program. That has to be very appealing to someone talented. But I have faith that we will hire the wrong person. We always do.

  10. Completely forgivable - Chad seems like a guy who loves Akron sports - it was just funny 😀

  11. I suspect that he may have seen the writing on the wall that this administration is not going to get behind the athletic program financially. He probably also saw that they were not going to renew him and made the preemptive strike.

  12. If the last set of games get played the Zips can finish as only the third fourth or fifth seed. If the Zips win it looks like they are locked into the third seed with the winner/loser of Buffalo/Kent taking #2 and #4. At this point I don't care who we face - just get on with it 🙃

  13. We still have the best player in the MAC so we certainly have a fighters chance in Cleveland. The offense has just been too inconsistent to make me to think we can rely solely on it to win 3 straight games. We need to get back to playing defense like we were in January. ACTUALLY: We have the 10th leading scorer in the COUNTRY We have the 46th leading rebounder in the COUNTRY We have the 47th leading shot blocker in the COUNTRY And if The Walk On had 11 more shot attempts he would be the #1 percentage shooter in the COUNTRY (and all his stats are for just about the lowest MPG of any of the leaders). And that does not include the Buffalo game, which may move both up a bit in the standings. Now if only the other three guys would contribute.

  14. Hate to root for Kent but I'd much rather the Zips be on the same side of the bracket with them with Buffalo and Toledo on the other side. And if OU really is out and WMU replaces them the 3 seed is kind of important. I still believe in this team I think a lot of these issues at the end has been due to all the road games. We finish at the JAR with Miami. Miami is no slouch this year but I believe the three seed is there for the taking.

  15. So Friday if Akron wins over Miami, they are set as a 3rd seed and will play BG on Thursday. Meanwhile, Kent and Buffalo will be playing for the #2 seed. Then there is Ohio's alleged COVID situation.

  16. Akron has had a tougher schedule. They talk about Buffalo winning 7 of their last 8. They lost Toledo by 10 and then beat EMU and NIU before handily beating Ohio and beating Zips by 2 with what could say was a 2nd half collapse by the Bulls. Buffalo and Ohio both had a few weeks off here and there. Since 1/9th Zips have had one game postponed and 7 out of last 10 on the road. And Ball State's been sitting at home for a couple months? screw that. Let's get everyone on an equal playing field then start seeing what's up.

  17. This win will definitely help the zips in the RPI when tournament time comes. The national soccer coaches group released their fist rankings today The zips did not get much love from the United soccer coaches group Kentucky was #7 Marshall was #12 Looks like the zips were #31.....with 15 points or votes next opponent...BGSU...got 7 points or votes https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-di-men/

  18. Screwy season with limited time to develop baseline chemistry, system, and identity. Hard to build everything on the fly. These 2pm games suck, and our shots aren't falling. Our defensive effort hasn't been there, but it really has to do with the shots simply not falling.

  19. With Toledo losing and Zips making that 20 point come back and OU having COVID issues (allegedly) you just never know. I hope this long slog for the Zips and the adversity will carry them through next week.

  20. The only important season starts next week. I have all kinds of ideas of what's gone wrong but at the end of the day my *** is sitting in my recliner in Tallmadge instead of in the bleachers above the Zips bench. From that perspective I watched the bench intently with an eye on how the players and coaches were interacting and you could tell a lot about the team. No such luck this year. These kids seem to enjoy each other but I can't imagine a team having more chemistry than last year's squad or the perfect mix of personalities to encourage, cajole, joke with and admonish each other they had. That type of mix helps a team to overcome slumps and limit the damage. I'm not sure this team has that.

  21. https://suacbobcats.com/2021/03/02/ou-at-kent-state-postponed-bobcats-tourney-spot-up-in-the-air/ reading BobcatAttack who knows what is going on. Now they say OU and KSU cancelled just to be "cautious" and OU plans on playing BG on Friday. OU is shady. I recalculated and if Akron wins they are a 3rd seed against the winner of OU and BG. Would play Buffalo in semis if Buffalo beats Ball State. Truly March Madness?

  22. Don't know who it was but somebody just missed a fantastic bicycle/scissor kick That would have been a goal if not for an excellent play from Marshall's goalie

  24. It's defense. We were never an offensive juggernaut in half court. Now that we aren't getting stops, we're getting into situations that aren't ideal for our team. Stops and transition points were the key to our good MAC start and both of those have disappeared

  25. I don't think the baby has to be the primary reason LCJ would leave. My mom had me at 18 years old, at the end of her freshman year at YSU. She ended up with a Masters degree. He can stick around if that's what he wanted. I'm sure he has a good network of people to help out. That said, doesn't he already have 2 Masters degrees? At some point you gotta move on. I'd love to see him return for another final season just because he got jobbed out of an NCAA tourney appearance in 2020, and then endured a full pandemic season of empty arenas and on-line classes. Crappy way to go out for a "rafterable" player.
