Groce is known for having mediocre regular seasons but excelling in the MAC tournament. Here's hoping history repeats itself.

I think the general lack of enthusiasm about this team is caused in part by how damn spoiled we were by last year's squad. That team, from performance to team camaraderie, was special and I think we expected teams that followed it to have that same magic, which is an unreasonable expectation. It was a fine season under any objective analysis. I think our altered perception from last year's team, the late season slump and the inability to watch them in person have combined to temper our collective enthusiasm.

I’ll be happy with LCJ winning MAC Tournament MVP & Freeman making all tournament team. I think LCJ will play with a bigger chip on his shoulder now.

I think there would be more excitement if we did not drop our last 3 games and 3 of our starting 5 are in a shooting funk and have been in a defensive funk the entire season. This team can be really good when Trimble, Ali, and LCJ are making their 3 ball. But we struggle when the 3 pointers are not going into the basket. If we win on Thursday and get out of our offensive woes I think this board will pick up.

Good call. 2nd in rebounding, 1st in blocks, 1st in field goal percentage in the league should get you something. I do see he made the all defensive team.

Freeman makes all defensive team and not even an HM for all conference? Strange.

The only team in the top six that had only one selection in the first through third teams. Where would we be without LCJ?

New Mexico State is starting to make a habit of this. They played the Liberty Flames twice in the regular season in both 2018 and 2019, with each team winning one game in 2018 and Liberty winning both in 2019.

We should be loaded for bear in this MAC tournament then, because this season rated several notches above mediocre.

Some good stuff at then end about the recruits. That 6'5 guard from Lakota is something we haven't had on a Zips roster since I can remember.

Another interesting stat: Freeman is THIRD in the entire COUNTRY in rebounds per 40 minutes played!

I'd buy this if we were getting better and not regressing

It's defense. We were never an offensive juggernaut in half court. Now that we aren't getting stops, we're getting into situations that aren't ideal for our team. Stops and transition points were the key to our good MAC start and both of those have disappeared
