That was Ken that said that. Lima is a Suckeye honk, although he did actually graduate from Ohio A&M so it's a bit more acceptable. He gives Ken all sorts of crap cause he won't root for tOSU. This interview was 100% driven by Ken, but I did appreciate after the conversation with Moorhead concluded, Lima emphasized how big of a hire this is. His Suckeyes effectively got beat twice this season by Moorhead's scheme, so he would know how good of an offensive mind Moorhead is. Well when the local media asks all of 3 questions at the introductory press conference for one of the biggest coaching hires in school history, it's not hard to figure out he might need to take matters into his own hands and get any publicity he can. Haha.2 points

@Blue & Gold, I was about to type the same (above). Thanks. Thanks to @Section210Zipand @mes102for linking the audio. I forwarded to some alumni that haven't been to a game since Bowden. Favorite quote "I've been here when we have won the MAC, so I know what it takes"2 points

I certainly hope not. There have been a few former blue blood programs that fired coaches who didn't reach the highest goals, such as Nebraska, who haven't been able to return even to those levels. A bunch of 9+ win seasons and frequent contention for the MAC championship would be awesome. Hope that will bring the crowd back too.2 points

I'm watching FIU at EMU. In the 4th OT on ESPN+. No one really wants to leave. Teams have to be pushing 50 combined turnovers and shooting 35% from the field.1 point

👍 I would think your use of HIS isn't because you think JT is JC, but I'm not certain of that. Lol My point with my comment was that stating "No wonder he doesn't feel too embraced." doesn't seem to agree with JT holding his party at UA's Infocision Stadium. I, too, would have thought that UA would have done something to involve average Zips fans in the celebration of JT's HoF induction. After all, how many former Zips are in the Pro Football HoF just 15 miles or so south of The University of Akron? UA seems to have its "hand" out quite often looking for donations from us. Perhaps they could have sponsored some activities around JT's induction and sold tickets, items, etc. as a fundraiser. Maybe even asked JT if he would be open to raffling off some tickets for a lucky few to attend his celebration at Infocision. Further evidence of the shortcomings of previous leadership...actually, lack thereof.1 point

My intent to add to an old JT thread, and observe that Jason Taylor Coaching at St. Thomas Aquinas has taken an odd turn for a nice guy with a new staff at Akron. My apologies to most ZN members. 🙁1 point

I would imagine it's fun for a kid to get offers, and photoshop yourself in a new uniform, and post for all your friends to see. Professionally, I think he should listen to what coach Moorhead is offering.1 point

That interview was outstanding! I'm going to have to start listening to Ken Carman & Anthony Lima. Mostly I've grown to have a revulsion for Cleveland media due to how they've utterly ignored us over the past (at least) 30 years (Idk what it was like prior to that). But this interview, and these two guys were great! They were both passionate Zips fans!!!! So great! I've never heard/seen that from Cleveland nor Akron (🤢) media. Anthony Lima (I believe) said something to the effect, "Coach, I'm not an Ohio State fan, I'm not a Michigan fan, I'm an Akron Zips fan," and I knew I had found a brother! Ken Carman also said he was a UA graduate & that he was going to be on campus next week (didn't specify why) and he mentioned two or three times how hyped he was Coach JoeMo was calling from the Hoban parking lot. I'm going to start tuning in to their show when I have the chance. Very happy1 point

The transfer portal is a horrible thing if you believe college football was something it simply wasn't before the transfer portal. NIL is a horrible thing if you believe college football was something it simply wasn't before NIL. The transfer portal started in 2018. Since then, college football has only gotten better. Covid has thrown a wrench into things for a year, but coming out of it, we have had the most exciting year of college football in my lifetime. The competition between teams has been great. Where there is better competition, there is better entertainment. Where there is better entertainment, there is more excitement. There is a new complexity to college football and the transfer portal is contributing to that complexity. I drive a lot and I can't tell you all how much I looked forward to turning on ESPNU from 10-1 every weekday this year to listen to Neuheisel talk about college football. He is so much better on the radio because he is a really smart guy who can expand on issues more than when he is on CBS television. He is awesome at distilling the complexity. How entertained are NIU fans with their Michigan State (?) transfer QB? We can be the next NIU! Embrace the transfer portal. It will be our friend.1 point

I agree. I think the Portal is going to benefit the G5 schools more than it will hurt them.1 point

That convincing becomes easier when they sit for a year or two and come to the realization that they're never going to be "the guy" at their P5. That's the beauty of the portal. It's much easier to convince that 20 year old after he figures out that he's not the end all be all than it is to convince the same kid at 17 or 18 when he's been the top guy in his geographic area and had smoke blown up his keester for 2 or 3 years by all those around him.1 point

And just as a reminder that it is possible to schedule a reasonable set of OOC opponents here is Toledo's schedule: @Valpo, Detroit, @Oakland, Charlotte, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, Northwest Ohio, @Michigan State, Bradley, @Richmond, Marshall. I'd take that schedule any day of the week. And the Rockets are currently 7-2 against it with Bradley, Richmond and Marshall remaining. Charlotte, Tulane and and Coastal were all in the Bahamas tournament. Come on Charles we have faith in you :-)1 point
